UFC announced that it has suspended Jon Jones indefinitely and stripped him of the light heavyweight title as a result of violations of the organization’s Athlete Code of Conduct Policy. Jones was recently arrested in Albuquerque, N.M. on a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury.
This was inevitable, Jones has shown no respect for anything including the law for a few years now.
Never really liked the whole "stripping someone of their accomplishments due to something fully unrelated" that's been happening in sports over the last few years.

I agree, but it's warranted in this case.
Dude was caught in a drug test to be using cocaine, and now this hit and run shit? He was already on a thin line before.
There has to be a line drawn in the sand for standards in the UFC. It just accentuates the perceived douchebaggery that some outside viewers have on fighters. Not good for business.

If you're a pile of shit you don't deserve your title you won, it's as simple as that
Want to keep your title? Don't be a pile of shit.
Having the title is also being representative of that sport association. If it were up to me I wouldn't want this asshat representing anything I run.
According to police reports, the man apparently returned to the vehicle to grab a "large handful of cash" before fleeing a second time.
Yeah I bet that's all he was grabbing before he ran away.
I'm willing to wager he had drugs on him and didn't want to get nailed for them. Why else would he return to grab a "large handful of cash" when he has more then he knows what to do with.
Would explain why he ran from the scene.
P.S: link in thread seems broken, I picked up that line from this article here.

Being decorated with recognizable accomplishments is a honour and not something you own, you earn it, and you can lose it again. It's pretty much "You? You guy are real awesome, keep it up."
The fact they can be taken away is what makes them hold value beyond "you did a thing, well done, have a gold star". They are meant to warrant respect the entire timethrough your life, even after you are no longer able to accomplish anything alike that ever again.

Thanks for pointing that out, I post from my phone usually so links are a bit finnicky, its fixed now atleast on my end.
For those who aren't familiar, the UFC does this when any fighter is not participating for an extensive amount of time. Whether it be a retirement or an injury, the guy loses the title.

Um no? He defended the title like 2 months ago, this was solely because of his own actions. This isn't retirement or an injury, this is a felony and his 3rd strike in the last 3 years.

yeah he's not gonna be able to defend it for a while to come buddy, so therefore they're stripping him of his title. Like GSP announcing he was done? Right after the fight the title went interim

If you had actually even read the article you would know it was removed due to code of conduct violations. Not retirement, not a title vacation like GSP at all. They didn't take it cause he isn't going to defend it, they're taking it cause he's a criminally massive douchebag.
Good, should have been stripped the first time, you can't defend a title if you have drug problems and UFC would be stupid to let him continue defending it.

But he did have drugs on him :v: Funnily enough the dumbass came back for his cash but left the weed pipe (with fresh weed still in it) inside the car. Police found it.
man i hate these egotistical muscle-head douchebags you always seem to find in high contact sports like this, they often always have shit personality's

It's the same idea. Obviously different circumstances, the point is he isn't able to defend the title, so it was removed. Don't be a dick.
