• Do you ever think we will get sketch shows like Monty Python again?

I am 14 and even though i think the sketch shows around today are very good, they just seem to be filled with the same joke, e.g. Little Britain. A sketch show i am watching at the moment and i am really enjoying is The Impressions Show with Culshaw and Stephenson which even though is very good, i feel they recycle the same jokes to often. I miss the originality and strangeness of shows like Monty Python. MadTV already does this, to an extent anyway.
That humor has died sadly.
There won't be anything like Monty Python again i don't think, nothing compares to it. That said, there is still some pretty funny shows around
It has mastered the art, of not being seen. You have to look for it, and then kill it.
Kids in the Hall and Mr. Show were both just as good.
When you have found the shrubbery, you place it here. Only slightly higher so you get a two level effect with a little path running down the middle The Quest For The Holy Grail is awesome indeed.

A HERRING!"
I'd just like to thank all of the people who quoted that movie so much that it's not funny any more. You're all doing god's work.
Madtv was nice
"Now you must chop down the biggest tree in this forrest with... A HERRING!"
Ni!
You should watch dead ringers, I love it.
MadTV already does this, to an extent anyway.
Some of the satirical skits are funny, but the recurring characters are about as entertaining as Ben Stein giving a speech on the varieties of sand.
Some of the satirical skits are funny, but the recurring characters are about as entertaining as Ben Stein giving a speech on the varieties of sand.
I think that they were quite good. On the first 5 times they actually had something creative.
No more python for us mere mortals. My eyes go towards the heavens. :fappery:
Also there are three soldiers wearing camouflage in this thread.
aha madtv was terrible, probably the closest thing now to monty python is SNL, but i don't know if that's really the same thing.
That was true humour. There will never be anything like it again.
At the time it wasn't that popular with people at first, it was more for teenage boys but it grew on everyone and now it is legendary.
Humour has to grow an evolve along with it's audience. Monty Python are one of the great ancestors of modern comedy and should not be forgotten, but they should never be imitated. Or even have an attempt made at imitating, it just wont be the same.
Eddie Izzard
Eddie Izzard
Amazing comedian.

Kids in the Hall is good, but all I've seen of it is reruns and I suspect they don't actually make new ones anymore :(
Just watch an amalgamation of Big Train and the Mighty Boosh... and squint a little bit.
Monty python is one of the few groups that managed to do random humor well. Now random is just LOL PENGUINS SPORKS. It's probably the timing, something that there just seems to be a lack of today.
