HAWTHORNE, Calif. — Three police officers have been pulled from street duty for their safety in Southern California after a widely circulated video showed an officer fatally shooting a Rottweiler and drew numerous death threats.
Hawthorne police spokesman Lt. Scott Swain told the Daily Breeze the decision is for the officers' safety after the uniformed officer shot the dog four times on Sunday.
[...]
The dog's owner, Leon Rosby, said police needlessly killed his dog. His lawyer, Michael Gulden, said Rosby's complaint will be added to an existing lawsuit Rosby has against police.
"I understand that people have been affected by this video. Anyone would be," Swain told the Breeze. "The police officers involved are affected by this incident and having to kill a dog.
"I don't understand how it translates into an eye for an eye: `We are going to kill you and your family because of this incident,'" he said of the threats to the officers.
[...]
Chief Robert Fager has called for calm and urged people to be patient as police investigate the shooting, and also avoid information being circulated through social media because "fallacies are being perpetuated."
Officers in the field have been told to be vigilant against any possible retaliation.
Sending death treaths to a policeman? Sounds like a good idea.

Jesus guys, seriously.

People want to talk about "justice" and all that bullshit saying their cause is righteous. Then they start sending death threats to the person and his family. Then on top of that lets go a head and try and retaliate against other officers that had nothing to do with the situation..
Yeah justice at work...
Anyone who watches the video will admit it is pretty rough watching the video. The shooting was totally justified imo, the owner shouldn't be suing simply because he pretty much instigated the whole situation. Driving up blasting music, then idling in the middle of a 4-way right next to police cruisers isn't a good idea. Then he stops, leaves the car running and takes out his dog, starts yelling at cops about stupid shit. Then when he puts the dog back in the car as the cops come to apprehend him, however he doesn't even roll up the back windows. Dog gets aggressive and tries to bite the cop, cop defends himself and shoots back. Guy brought the whole thing on himself and the ended up dying because of the owners stupidity. The only injustice here is that what looked like a nice and loyal dog died because of the owners stupidity.
There were dozens of people watching and standing by with video, none of them got arrested because they didn't interfere. This guy rolls up and is trying to be disruptive as possible, he didn't even know what was going on.
Welcome to the idiots of the urban area.
Why are there people who send outright death threats? Or is this an exaggeration for mere letters of disapproval? Death threat sounds very specific. I mean, what the hell is writing shit to someone's person and family going to achieve? I do not condone the actions of the officers involved, but this just devalues the whole message in my eyes. I don't want a bunch of vindictive assholes to seem to speak for the community.

Considering what Facebook comments on this video were like, I doubt they're exaggerating.
His lawyer, Michael Gulden, said Rosby's complaint will be added to an existing lawsuit Rosby has against police.
Wow this + his disruptive behavior during the raid make this dude sound like one of those dumb fuck cop chasers that just fuck with police.
I guess this is the price of following protocol.
"omg he shot a dog ;;(((( lets threaten his and the whole familys life!1!1! DOWN WITH THE SYSTEM FUCK THE POLICE!!!!"
"You killed a dog. Now we're going to kill your entire bloodline."
Now all these people are gonna come in here and start raiting 'winner' because they didn't read the article and assume it's their punishment rather than a safety precaution.
"You killed a dog. Now we're going to kill your entire bloodline."
Almost sounds like it could be the tagline for a movie.
Does anyone have that one photo with the dead dog and the soldier comparing reactions?
From what I've seen, 80% of people didn't even watch the first video where he disrupted everyone, just the second one where he was arrested. Including the OP of the previous thread, who intentionally left the first vid out of his post and came up with an incredibly sensationalist (and ironically racist [sub](implied the guy was poor because he was black, article never mentioned wealth status)[/sub]) title.
If the guy had just rolled up the back windows or stayed away from the scene in the first place, none of this would have happened.
Sucks that an innocent dog had to die for his owner's stupidity.
But the cops are to blame too. Well, at least one of them. The dog has already backed away from the officers when that ONE FUCKING IDIOT decides that shoving his fucking hand in the dog's face with a gun drawn is a great idea.
It's like he wanted to have a reason to shoot the poor thing.

Everyone screwed up in that situation. Hope the guy doesn't have to lose his job over it though...
While I do not at all approve of the death threats, I'm happy to see that officials are taking ANY kind of action against this sort of behavior.
But what REALLY disturbs me is how there's so many cases of cops wrongly killing human beings that are just "being investigated" instead of actually doing something. It's unfortunately that the cop shot a dog in panic, but come on, why does noone care when it happens to humans. Do we have to grow puppy dog eyes before someone cares?
So many reasons to hate what police do currently
and they pick one of the dumbest ones

Agreed on so many levels.
They shot a dog probably in self defense? Yeah sending death threats to them and their families makes complete sense.
The officer who shot the dog didn't need to shoot him. The dog was excited yes but it didn't lunge out to attack. If it was the officer wouldn't have been able to shoot him because he didn't have his gun drawn at the time. He only drew he weapon after the dog went back down and began sniffing the ground. Then once he shoved the gun in the dogs face it became agitated and he shot him.
Do I want the officer killed? No. Punished? Yes. I feel he acted with far too much force in this situation.
Good fuckin job internet
pretty sure one of the doxxed info that was spreading around reddit and 4chan wasn't even the correct officer.
if only this happened to cops that actually kill people for literally bullshit and get away with a verbal warning

No offense, but when you have an agressive dog jumping at you, you don't know if it's just jumping at you or planning to attack.
Notice that the dog was only shot after it directly jumped at the officer.
Well; it's definitely showing the police how (60% :v: of) everything they do is being watched. A sort of good and bad thing
From what I've seen, 80% of people didn't even watch the first video where he disrupted everyone, just the second one where he was arrested.
The problem with this is that he wasn't even disrupting anything, he was just standing and video taping. I don't know where you got the fact he was disrupting the operation.

your post is bad
That's so bullshit it was totally justified what he did.
