• Could use some feedback on my portfolio website.

Hey guys, I'm creating my first website, to use a digital portfolio of my work. The main focus is VFX/Animation work, but there's some photography on there too. I'll also be adding a 2D artwork section when I have enough material. I'd really appreciate any feedback on the layout, design, content etc. That said, it's a modified blogger page so it's quite hard to customize the really nitty gritty stuff (getting the blog button to open in a new tab for example). I'm trying to go for minimalist, without it looking lazy. I'm also in the process of updating the showreel to match the website theme-wise. So yeah, any thoughts would be grand. Also, if you want to watch the film on the Animaiton page, the password is inventor123 www.kieranjduncan.com Also, if you could tell me whether the showreel autoplay is a good idea or not I'd appreciate it.
Hey, The auto play thingy is okay, since the video has a not so loud and rather chilling sound, which is nice and immediately caught my attention. The white background on your site makes it look clean 'n sleek. I actually prefer to have a rather more dark background, since white is like punching you in the face when reviewing portfolios at night time :D But in the end it's just personal preference, I would say. The font size is okay as well. The white buttons on your "contact me" page should be change, since they pretty much blend with the white background. Oh and when clicking a picture on your picture viewer on the photography site, it's referring to an unknown page. I think this is going to be fixed since you want to link the bigger sized pictures there and haven't uploaded them yet, right? So far so good, I'm pretty sure you should be able to land a job with this, in the end it's the skill that matters and with your work on "Ticked Off" you have shown that you know what you do ;)
Thanks a lot man, I'll take a look at the contact buttons. The photograph gallery, I cant actually figure out how to get it to forward on to the high res version. I just used a html script for the slideshow and filled in the gaps. I think I'm going to take another look at a different gallery plugin, I'm just having a hard time sorting through all the jargon and coding. Cheers for the kind words though :)
I'd get rid of the autoplay. Someone who reviews portfolios is gonna have several of them open in tabs at once and he's gonna be pissed if he can't find the one that's playing something. Also the film&animation video is set to private but I'm sure you're aware of that.
Yeah Im having mixed reviews on the autoplay thing, probably best to take it off. The video is private for festival entry requirements, the password is inventor123 if you'd like to watch it.
Just as a note on your video you put "Veggis Pirates" instead of "Veggie Pirates" on the first shot of it.
Yeah I noticed the other day haha, which is weird because I must have watched that reel at least 100 times! I'll change it with the re-edit, but that'll probably take another week or so. Thanks for pointing it out anyway, I was hoping nobody would notice...
