Might convince me to get one if this applies in the uk
Dang. I should get a 3DS to play Nintendogs: Toy Poodle and Friends on.
[sub][sub]Shut up! It got corgis in it...[/sub][/sub]
Still not going to buy one but selling them directly is a good idea.
Good. Now start selling refurbished NES, SNES, and 64.

I don't know about the SNES and 64, but they literally ran out of NES/Famicom parts years ago, so although that was never, ever going to happen, there's another practical reason not to.
Sell Wii Us this way and I'll buy one.
A new 3DS costs $170, while a used one at GameStop costs $160
lol
That's actually fucking cool. I'm wondering if gamestop is going to pitch a fit or if they are just going to ignore it.
And how does nintendo get the refurbished 3dses? Gamestop gets them via tradeins, can you trade in your 3ds direct to nintendo?
They've been doing this for a while
Why not make more?
Why would you?
Everytime i hear refurbished console i just imagine a worker taking a brush over the xbox a couple times and sayin "DONE" lol

It's not hard to get one if you want to shell out some cash or search for one and get lucky.
Hell I got two snes consoles now just for looking around thrift shops. I am going to sell the crappier one soon though, along with my second n64. Also have a shit ton of genesis games I don't need cause I don't play genesis. The consoles are usually not the problem. The fucking games are the problem. Finding decent/good/memorable classic games is hard these days because people know to hold on to them now, and the prices on ebay and amazon have fucking skyrocketed in the past few years. It's retarded even trying to find snes cartridges now if you don't want to shell out $20-$40 dollars for good ones.
A big ol' 'fuck you' to GameStop.
Why would you?
Because theres a big retro gaming market

I have all my originals from when I was a kid. Except I lost Kirby super star :/
shit yes, just in time for new leaf
They've been doing this for a while
Dunno why this is getting disagrees. They've had refurbished systems up in their store for at least a couple months now. I don't know why it took this long for it to finally pass through the usual news sites.
They have sold reburbished products for a while but the 3DS and DSi XL refurbs are new.

I don't think the market is big enough to justify restarting the production of it though.

If by "new" you mean "within the past couple months" then sure. I wasn't talking about the accessories; I remember the systems being up there for a while. I even remember talking to someone about it when I noticed them the first time.

This, unfortunately. While it might seem like there are a ton of people who would shell out and justify making brand new old consoles, there really aren't. At least, not enough to justify the production costs. It's much cheaper to just get the games emulated on their current products and release them digitally.
That said, I'd definitely pony up for an official 2013-produced NES/Famicom.
Nintendo's approach on retro games is by releasing them on the Virtual Console or for the DS. Makes much more sense than building the consoles itself, no matter how awesome they may be.
I prefer the real deal as well and i still use my SNES in these days, but nobody is going to buy a console from almost 2 decades ago.
lol
well it's only been used once so everything's pretty fair

I've been watching their refurbished system for months waiting for 3DS consoles to show up, they only popped up a week or two ago.
