• Windows Reporting HDD Failure

I just built a new PC and moved over my old hard drives and a few days later windows pops up with a message saying "Windows Detected a Hard Disk Problem". Everything from the disk is already backed up. I though the timing was oddly coincidental having just relocated the drive but it didn't receive any knocks during the process. I was wondering if there was any chance this was a false positive and if there is anything I can do to make sure it definitely is failing? I've run Crystal Disk Info and the bit it marks as "Bad" is the Spin Up Time.
Check the S.M.A.R.T. data of the drive, there's several applications that can do this, but it should be a reliable indication if the hard drive is failing. Although you should probably still look into a new hard drive; I've been having excellent experiences with Seagate brand drives.
This has been happening to me for a while, I'm fairly certain it's just related to a bad sata cable I had but now it's in the SMART data forever. Disable SMART data in your BIOS if you can, but don't be surprised if it breaks.
This should not matter if it is the spin-up time, as long as you don't have any bad sectors you should be fine, no guarantees though. Try to get a replacement on the warranty if applicable.
