So I went to the casino last night, played some blackjack and won $2000, and I was thinking of upgrading my GPU, Case, Screen, HDD, and a new keyboard.
Here's what I was thinking about getting:
GPU: 2 EVGA GTX560 1GB
Case: Corsair Obsidian 600T White
Screen: Samsung 2233RZ
HDD: WD 1TB 7200RPM
Keyboard: Razer BlackWidow (I don't know about this one, any other suggestions for a mechanical keyboard?)
My current setup:
PSU: 800w
CPU: Intel Core i7 920 @ 3.2GHz
CPU Cooler: Coolermaster V8
Ram: 6GB DDR3 1333MHz
GPU: ATI Radeon 4850 1GB
HDD: WD Caviar 500GB (I think)
Case: Coolermaster CM690
Screen: Samsung Syncmaster 2032GW
Keyboard: ZBoard Merc Stealth
I'm not looking for a new CPU/Cooler/Mobo, as these are quite new. Also, should I get an SSD and a new HDD or just the SSD? The 2232RZ I would like to stay, I can't find a cheaper 3D screen in South Africa.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! :sax:
You should get a single card instead of two.
What would be the benefits? Because I want to make sure I never have to upgrade for a long time. I have now got a total of $3800, I won more D:
CF/SLI later on, cheap performance boost.
Thanking you :D
Maybe another upgrade would be an SSD, as for the GPU i'd recommend a GTX580 and SLI'ing them later on.
Holy shit dude do you count cards or something? 3800 in a casino is damn good.
I would get a GTX 580 or a 6970.

6970 are very good in CF as of now.

Haha, no ways! I am too stupid to be able to count cards. I converted South African Rands to US Dollars, so yeah :D but thanks!
@GoDong-DK: I'm getting one GTX580, I won't have space on my motherboard for 2 cards and my NIC, as the board's NIC was fried.
What is your motherboard?
Don't want to upgrade for a long time? I suggest the superpowered GTX 590. Get an Intel SSD to use for your boot drive.

Asus Rampage III Gene.
@i300: My budget won't allow. I want to save some money, and no stores in South Africa have the superpowered card.

current gen dual GPU cards aren't really worth it and vertex 3 is a better choice
I've heard after more thorough research that SLI with current generation cards give a lot of hassles. So I'm going with a single EVGA GTX580.

such as? as far as I'm aware SLi and crossfire have done nothing but improve, to the point where you can now get 90%+ performance increase, and any relatively modern game supports it
it's a bad idea to start off with SLi but a second card makes a very good upgrade option for the future (as long as you have a suitable mobo and PSU)
I'm not too sure as to what the problems are, but I'm not sure. I will probably upgrade to SLI later on. But as of yet, I'm yet to know what problems arise with SLI, I've only heard from a friend anyway. And another reason why I can't get 2 cards is because it will cost way too much.
Adding another card in SLI doesn't give you 200% performance. It's more like 170%. Also, having 2 cards so close to each other creates more heat.

SLI and CF is way better than they once was, and it's 90%+ in most games. Many, actually around 97%
Thanks so much for your help everyone. I have ordered my stuff and it will be delivered between Monday and Tuesday, you guys rock!
