On Tuesday I leave for Canada for 6 months as part of my gap year. I'll be living in Banff where I am working as a housekeeper (lame, but not my choice) with a group of others coming on the trip. I'll be able to ski during days off work, which is awesome :D
So, Facepunch, is there anything interesting I should know about Canada before I go?
Thanks!
Don't drink the water.
Say goodbye to all your black friends, because you won't see any in Canada.
I know nothing about canada but that you should watch out for HQRSE
oh and some stuff is more expensive there
Oh and eat Tim Hortons erry day, mon.
I hate Canada. It's overrated.

Amen to that!

None? I don't know too many black people anyway, but that's interesting... is Canada a racist country?
oh and some stuff is more expensive there
I live near Brighton, a night out is fucking expensive here anyway. We've been told the prices are similar, but at 3,000 meters, it takes less to get drunk; apparently other stuff is cheaper in general.
Milk comes in bags.
You should know they have free healthcare in Canada.
lolwut, I can't quote other people due to some retarded nobump thingy. Since when did automerge become non-important :(
Anyway, thanks! Also you make a good point Joe, I've never bothered with medical stuff when skiing before, I guess the other thing is to always ski with others when possible; it's more fun anyway.
we live in igloos and we ride polar bears to school, and we have pet beavers
@Screen they don't. We have insurance and apparently, just like America, they'll demand some proof or some guarantee of payment.
@Me0wmix awesome!
OMG garry WHY the fuck did you remove automerge! :@
Don't ask about the troll. Trust me, JUST DON'T.
All I know about Banff is that there is a hotel there that looks just like the one from "The Shining". It was beautiful, but rather creepy.

No, not at all. I don't think Canada had slavery, which is why America has a lot of black people, because we brought their ancestors in from a boat.
There are some black people, in big cities I guess, there is probably a lot in Toronto but I don't know about where you're going.

Apparently it's the one I'm working in! Never seen the Shining, time to google.
Here's a budget I've designed for you;-
10% - other shit
90% - Tim Hortons

Problem with Tim Hortons, is I hate coffee. I'll still try it though due to all you're recommendations.
