For my speech class in college I was thinking about doing a speech on profanity. I planned on talking about how the words are not what is dirty, but the way that you use them. I thought this was a pretty good idea because I've never really heard anyone in the media question if "bad words" were really "bad" (George Carlin doesn't count, he's a comedian). So I asked the teacher if it would be OK to use profanity in my speech when I give it. She sort of dodged the question and said that she doesn't see that I would be able to make an argument with it. The tin foil hat part of me says that she doesn't want me to give that speech for that reason, but that's probably me being paranoid. But I would like to have a backup idea just in case.
So, what should be my back-up persuasive speech?
The speech will probably be over 5 minutes minimum and she said "The more controversial, the better".
I was thinking about doing a speech about something against religion, but I don't really want to open that can of worms.
Seems like profanity could be controversial. Just try explaining why you would need profanity in the speech.
I wrote you a controversial speech:
God isn't real.
lots of new science is controversial.
Abortion
Typed up a paper on the funding of stem cell research. Half-assed most of it but got a 96% on it. And it was the highest grade in my class. Take that you obnoxious, undeserving, loud ass wipes.
Plenty of topics here.
Death penalty? Could do research into some countries that practise it.
Legalizing prostitution.
(If you're in a country in which it isn't legal.)

Hmm, I might do this one. It's controversial. Legalizing it isn't a really popular standpoint. Also, there is a "Bullshit" episode that I can use to get information from. If they can do a 30 minute episode about it, I'm pretty sure that I can do a 5 minute speech.
Thank you.
How about eugenics?
