• Opinions on stepside beds?

I went and got a stepside bed for a truck I am working on. My first actually. I was just wondering what you guys thought of stepbeds. It's for a 1973 Ford f250. It looks very nice on some other older trucks but i'm not too sure about this one. I like it but something just looks a bit off. Anyways, I'm just looking for opinons.
Stepsides are a hit and miss on some trucks. Go for it. Throw some spare tires on the side of that hoe and rock it.

I've never liked them visually, and the steps are high up enough to be inconvenient on normal-height trucks. I'd rather get (or fabricate) some of those fold-out steps that live under the fenders in front of the wheels.

Stepsides don't look good on 70s era trucks imo. Patina paint job is nice... if you're lazy. It looks good in the right manner, like if you offset the rusted body with an absolutely beautifully painted white roof, and say a red pinstripe across the body. Otherwise paint it.

Only a few colors look good flat IMO so that's why I want to do patina. And yeah thattaco. That bed.

There's a lot of flat colors that look good - I am especially fond of seeing that candy blue flat color. But as far as expense, you can buy a gallon of a generic color from any autozone or pepboys type store in rustoleum. Usually they have an orange, a blue, a gray, and a black, maybe a white. Just general colors, but it is a good place to start. Harbor Freight usually has a gravity gun for about $10 - $20 and a pancake compressor for $100. You could paint the whole truck for about $400 on the cheap ( and it'll look cheap) and look good. My whole car was painted for $500 before I bought it and it doesn't look too bad. Patina is a nice word, but don't ever call it that - just say you have a rusty truck, and that will command more respect - trust me. But if you want to go on the cheap, and leave it rusty - spend a weekend making the roof look really really clean, then paint it gloss white, or black. It'll look killer I'm telling you. Then put an advertisement for a wrecking yard on the side - that may sound oddly specific, but that's a dream truck in my head for me... Yeah I like that idea. I'm only 16 so it's not to easy to get money for a restoration. I recently spent 200 on the bed and a good amount on door skins. So a rather cheap paint job would be nice for me. I like the idea of a flawless roof and a rusty body though.

I'm reading a build article on a 13 year old restoring a 1968 Dart. He's buying cars from scrapyards and such on the super cheap with allowance money and parting them out with a hacksaw to restore his project.
That's amazing. Definitely an awesome dream to follow at that age.
Words Dart More words.
Of course.
Of course.
Who is this? and how did you get this number?
I had a 70 highboy fleetside and I wanted to try and find a stepside bed for it but 8foot stepsides (while existing for 70s fords) are hard as shit to find. Please put a stepside bed on it, stepsides are the fucking shit dude. Hell If I had the time and willpower I'd try to re-size and retrofit an 80s F100 stepside bed onto my comanche just for that stepside goodness.
Well, there's no going back now. I already bought the thing. But I am still wondering if c0nk3r likes the stepsides. From the reply above it's not too clear. *Sarcasm*
Pictures.
