• Upgraded from 5Mbps to 10Mbps and now I only get 1Mbps.

So last Wednesday I got upgraded to 10Mbps from five for free which was pretty awesome, they said sometime Friday or Saturday my modem would shutoff and update with new settings. Well my modem hasn't shut off yet and instead of my nice new speed I now get anywhere from 0.10 to 1.5 Mbps. I have tried calling my ISP but they just tell me that I must be wrong. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot and fix this myself?
Have you power cycled your modem?
About 3-4 times.
Call your ISP and if they won't look at it then switch back to your old plan. Alternatively, wait until the end of Saturday when they were supposed to turn it on.
Leave your router on for a week or so, some ISPs go through "line training" where they try and sync the line to the best speed possible whilst being stable, turning it off constantly will just fuck it all up.

Well thanks for the quick response, I hope I didn't damage anything power cycling.
