Look at you? Pffah, you obviously don't know how hip we are!
Yes, it's a thread about the oscillations of The Groop, one of the very first POSTROCK bands hailing out of London, England.
The principle two members are:
Parisian pop siren with her signature cool and Mooging, Lætitia Sadier:

Make sure you get me from my hip angle!
Londonite guitar anti-god with his signature strumming, Tim Gane:

I'm still not looking at you
Stereolab's sound can be described as Pop with an infusion of almost-forgotten influences.
While punk and electronica play a dominant part in their musical style, it's augmented by easy-listening and jazz corners.
The guitars take a background role to the other instruments and usually the songs rely more on texture and atmosphere than soloing or chords.
This is what really gives them the Post-Rock edge.
You'd be hard-pressed to find many bands that were as popular as Stereolab while at the same time playing an 18 minute song consisting of long drones and pop melodies.
This is shit, just show me the fucking music!
Right, here you go have a discography neatly placed in categories so you'd know what you'd like or not.

This period of Stereolab is their young stage.
The songs have a strongly punkish energy to them, usually grinding and lacking their trademark restraint of later.
Sonic Youth comes to mind.

Stereolab maintains their punkish glow with grinding guitars but add in more substance.
The songs are a bit shorter and have more hooks and pop melodies, underscored with sound play.

Cobra and Phases Group Play Voltage in the Milky Night - 1999
what
This time period finds Stereolab in new territory, creating full lush sounding songs.
Little of the old punker guitar trashes remains, instead Tortoise-esque post-rock fills the album.
Brakhage & Flower Called Nowhere

A fucking tape deck are you fucking kidding me fuck you!
hey where's the other shit?
The albums passed this in Stereolab's career are known to be lesser in quality and put simply aren't as exciting or ground-breaking.
Only recommended for the fans who just gotta get more.
hmm i don't know
Shut up and give them your money.
I like this band. They remind me of my young days in France.
Wikipedia says they're post-rock but they really don't sound like any other post-rock band I know.

I think early on they were grouped in with some other british experimental bands of the time from the old definition of post rock, as it was coined by Simon Reynolds. they fit well in that respect.
oh and they're fucking great
