Black Ops 3's official forums and Steam Community forums are full of complaints, with many of the cited issues rendering the game literally unplayable. One of the most common problems is that the game doesn't even boot up properly — the developer and publisher logos show up, and then the screen simply goes black.
http://www.polygon.com/2015/11/6/9681392/call-of-duty-black-ops-3-pc-issues-broken Some people even said it was worse than Arkham Knight Update: They have sort of patched stuff.
Damn, isn't Treyarch usually pretty good with their PC ports? Excluding Black Ops 1?
Worse than Arkham Knight? Not by a long shot. Multiplayer runs great, but campaign has a lot of weird issues.
They've already released a patch which fixes some of these issues, which I feel should be mentioned. Obviously isn't perfect and definitely doesn't solve all the issues. It's weird, some people can play perfectly yet some people get horrible framedrops. I know people with multiple year old hardware that play just fine, yet some people with 16GB of RAM, a 980, and i7 4790K struggle to get even 45 FPS.
One of the big things is that the "Extra" texture setting is currently borked. Even on my 980Ti it causes extreme hitching and frame stuttering. Kicking it down to high makes the game stop shitting itself.
running 60fps+ at 1080p no problems here
Same here^ , only problem I have is that there is no ADS sensitivity settings.
You know i've always wonder how much they test this stuff or how much its optimized, it could be it requires a bit more power than what the computer can give.
The beta ran like complete ass on my computer for some reason, never was able to play the game above low settings, because the frames would randomly drop from 100 to 20, and then stay like that until the end of the match. So I wonder if this is an issue in the same vein Was kind of a shame, the game was pretty alright otherwise
The singleplayer stutters a little bit. I've found the multiplayer to run perfectly fine for me like it did in the beta.
Seems it's a repeat of the first Black Ops, where some people played it fine and others got an unplayable, hitched mess.
The game is back in black.
Black Ops ... it's a feature!
chances are that this will run horrible for me, like with blops2. The first always ran really well for me. uggh
Treyarch games usually ran shit for me at launch but they usually patched it fairly quickly.
Eh, most people leaving neg reviews didn't even update their VGA drivers / restart their PC afterwards. I got really discouraged reading them, and was prepared to refund. Upon playing the game myself, it's ran fine. Occasional hiccups, but usually negligible. Only really sucks when it rarely happens during a firefight and I die as a result. They'll be sure to patch it out in the future. Regardless of all the bad press, I'm having tonnes of fun with this game.
running perfectly at 144fps in 4K on my quad SLI Titan Zs here

From playing the beta, and having distaste with wasting money on Advanced Warfare, I feel like Black Ops 2 actually LOOKS nicer than Black Ops 3 in my opinion. Oh and it runs a trillion times faster on my computer. At least I can be happy Black Ops 2 isn't going anywhere in terms of playerbase, because I love that game.
"well it works on MY machine"
But that's the thing, it wasn't working on my machine, until my friend told me I was a dumbass for not updating my graphic's driver and restarting my PC. I upgraded, but didn't restart, and was having all the problems: black screen after the logo played (I couldn't even press enter to get to the main menu cause it just went black), game crashing within minutes. I dunno, I just felt a lot of neg reviews were due to people not properly doing shit.
When I started the game up yesterday it told me to update my drivers. I updated my drivers, did a clean install of them then got ingame. Noticed hitching, so I turned texture settings down from extra to high and then the game ran smooth as butter varying from 70 to 155 FPS. I hate to be the bearer of "it runs fine on my PC", but it runs fine on my PC. If you buy it and it runs like shit and that sours the game for you, request a refund as that is well within your rights. Beat it with a friend today, coop campaign was bomb, pleasant surprise to see a not that bad CoD.
It makes you wonder how a billion dollar company that's been making games for years can still deliver a buggy ass game.
I've read that there's an issue that affects Intel i5 machines, there was a hotfix for that
I was getting huge frame dips at medium settings on 80% of my native resolution (2560x1440) Now I can do extra high textures/2X filmic SMAA/dynamic shadows/Ambient Occlusion high/100% of my native resolution. I still get very odd frame drops to 30 (where it stays at absolute 30), but it's much better than it was.
The only issue I had was one BSOD, but that was shadow play and did it to me in CSGO 30mins before hand.. Other than that, not many issues. I know other FPers have had weird memory leaking issues on Windows 10 though.
I've read that there's an issue that affects Intel i5 machines, there was a hotfix for that
I'm running an old as hell i5 (750) and it ran fine on almost ultra settings. No clue about later generations though.

The campaign is not that well optimized but multiplayer runs perfectly fine. Setting the refresh rate to 59hz fixed every issue I had with stuttering.
couldn't play the multiplayer beta without it crashing after 5 minutes
