In 2007, while investigating the Church of Scientology for Panorama, reporter John Sweeney had a dramatic on-camera confrontation with a church spokesman named Tommy Davis. The church was accusing the reporter of bias and it attempted to stop the documentary from being broadcast - a campaign backed by Scientology A-lister John Travolta. Sweeney has returned to investigate the church again.
I think it'll be a good watch. Scientology and Me was a good eye opener for people who do not know about Scientology. Hahahahahah, i <3 scientologists.
this is gold.
I'd like to see it. I guess i will eventually.
Why is it "Scientology and Me"? Shouldn't it be "Scientology and I"?
I don't think so, because if it were the other way around you wouldn't say "I and Scientology". I may be wrong though. Was going to watch this, but forgot. I'll check it out on the Iplayer.
Holy crap. I lol'ed at the celebrities trying to defend the secret intergalactic warlord or whatever he was called. But seriously, this is a cult, and a very dangerous one.
I'd like to see it. I guess i will eventually.
The vid in the OP is part 1 of 4, the rest of it can also be found on Youtube.
scientologists can't really believe this bullshit?
So they go digging in all their opponents' histories? I wonder what digging in the life of Tommy Davis could bring up?
A central tenet of Scientology is its Doctrine of Exchange, which dictates that each time a person receives something, he or she must give something back. By doing so, a Scientologist maintains "inflow" and "outflow", avoiding spiritual decline.
So basically. We'll give you some spritual bullshit and trade that for your physical cash. Cha-ching!
Wtf is this i don't care about some idiots life. More scientology. Wait im confused what fucking channel is this on.
You missed it. It was on BBC One, and can soon be seen here (iPlayer's being slow with it apparently): http://www.bbc.co.uk/i/v1ykr/
Part way through the second part that spokesmen guy said something along the lines of "If you use the word cult one more time to describe my religion I can't be held responsible for my actions". Okay, so who would be held responsible for his actions then? The fucking cameraman?
Lord Xenu is never not funny
Are you trying for a scilon DDOS next?
shit i should watch this me and my friend are doing a project on Scientology in my world religions class
The ads you get on YouTube are all 'Panorama: Desperate Lies', basically a Scientology response. The religion (although in its infancy and by a sci-fi writer) seesm okay, but the Church of Scientology is clearly a cult. Look at the leader. He looks like a door to door salesman that tries too hard! Shit! I may be followed now.
Good thing we have Anonymous.
Why is it "Scientology and Me"? Shouldn't it be "Scientology and I"?
ScientologI? but grammatically, X and I is now incorrect since everyone just uses Me and X. plus most help books or whatever are typically "[PROBLEM] and me."
Brilliant television, another eye-opening episode. John Sweeney is a great guy.
Brilliant television, another eye-opening episode. John Sweeney is a great guy.
Actually, he isn't. I know from experience that he latches onto a controversial subject and, rather than providing a fair investigation and assessment, he does his best to twist things to make the people involved look as bad as possible. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of Scientology and think it is all a load of crap - I'm not trying to defend them at all. But really, John Sweeney is not a great guy.
I'm surprised John Sweeny got so angry at their trolling attempts, Mark Bunker handles it like a goddamn pro
