Richard Donner, who directed the original 1985 movie, confirmed the news, saying Spielberg is ‘right on’ with his idea for the storyline for the proposed follow-up. Speaking to TMZ, he said: ‘Hopefully we’re going to get this done, period. Spielberg came up with the idea of doing a sequel after 30 years. ‘You don’t do it without him, and he came up with another storyline and he’s right on.’ Donner echoed previous sentiments that he hopes the original cast will return for the sequel. There’s no word yet on when The Goonies 2 is expected to start filming, let alone hit cinemas, but hey you guys, it’s all looking good so far.
I am so happy.
Oh no...
You know what, I'm going to keep an open opinion on this. I'm really unsure of if it'll be good (or if it's even worth doing) but I hope they smash it out of the park

Im so fucking tired of remakes, sequels and fucking bad superhero movies.
It'd be real fucking 'neato if they'd start making new movies instead of sequels.
It'd be real fucking 'neato if they'd start making new movies instead of sequels.
B-but that requires actual effort!
Two grand recations to this news in this thread will be. OH HELL YES or OH HELL NO

Why the hell doesn't anyone make anything new or original, and by original I mean actually thinking up something that hasn't been done before instead of "remaking" and milking original classics by spewing out shitty sequels that do no justice to the original at all.
Don't care, I'm excited.

It gets harder and harder. But I really do wish there was more original ideas. A lot of adaptations, remakes, and sequels being done recently.
Im on the fence about this.

i wish people would post original ideas rather than things that have already been posted
Wow can't you guys think of an original post instead of just saying the same things over and over again
Don't know why you're including me. My post WAS original in this thread.
Im so fucking tired of remakes, sequels and fucking bad superhero movies.
how is that related to the goonies
hell meh.. Weren't there only two actors from the film that have actually gone on to have a career?

I wouldn't mind this. If it's a more mature version of the first than it could have potential.
I really don't know how I've made it this long without seeing the original Goonies.
Do it with the original cast, then we'll talk.
Do it with the original cast, then we'll talk.
I'm not sure if I wanna see Corey Feldman now. He's been through a lot of shit and it hasn't left him the most well adjusted person
Wow can't you guys think of an original post instead of just saying the same things over and over again
There's just not a whole lot left to say. Even good sequels and remakes are getting dull. Is there even a movie in the summer lineup that isn't a sequel, remake, or reboot?

PLEASE DONT FUCK THIS UP PLEEEEEEEEASE! We don't want another Christmas Story 2 again. Here's the trailer for Christmas Story 2. Watch this video at your own risk. http://youtu.be/YHJNBZ2rrMM

I fucking love when hyperbole I used to make a joke about something dumb becomes real. The other example I had was a Top Gun remake, so expect that next year.
