So I've been working out for a year. 4 times a week, on and off cardio, and taking 2-3 week breaks at times. I just recently learned that my muscles are all hidden. People literally jump when I flex cause it goes from a flat surface to a softball on my biceps. This can be a good thing or bad, I do not really like it.
I do 40 min cardio 3 times a week, and muscle workouts 3-4 times a week focusing on key areas a day. I have been eating 3000 calories a day in the last 2 weeks and gained 6 pounds from fat and hopefully muscle. I am a very healthy eater. Few saturated fats, lots of calories. I weigh about 133 and I'm 17
So my questions are:
1. How many calories should I eat per day to bulk up?
2. Are there any things you have noticed that suddenly impacted muscle gain?
3. What exercise routines focus on bulking up? (I already know some tricks like max weight)
1. This is probably not the best place to ask.
2. Big ol' pat on the back to you because I think that's what you want.
Sex is seriously the best exercise

Don't kid yourself.
Agree with the above user, because more than half of this forum are nerdy 14 year olds.
You should go to a workout website or something of the likes to get more serious answers to this.
Shit, ninja'd.
I am agreeing with the first reply.
If you're 133 at 17 then you're not as much of a muscleman as you lead us to believe. Unless you're of a shorter stature. How tall are you?

He's 5', that's why people Jump when he flexes
5'5 and yes I am not a huge muscle man, that is the problem. I am very strong, but I am sort of skinny looking while my friends are 200 pounds and beast. I know some of it is genetics but I can't believe that is all it is. If I cant grow up I must be able to grow out.
Most of my mass is muscle already, just hidden muscle.
questions replies:
1. How many calories should I eat per day to bulk up?
Well, if your eating 3000 calories per a day your fine. Loosen up on the cardio because eating all those calories and burning them isn't going to help you bulk. If you want to bulk eat more protein.
2. Are there any things you have noticed that suddenly impacted muscle gain?
... -.- Nothing and I mean nothing impacts muscle gain immidiately. It takes hard work and time. Do not use muscle enchancing suppliments that say they do because they don't. Just intake protein and work hard.
3. What exercise routines focus on bulking up? (I already know some tricks like max weight)
There is no direct routine that focuses on bulking. You just lift heavy weights and lower the amount of sets. 3-4 workouts per a muscle, 4 sets (10-12 reps). Another problem people have is form. Without proper lifting technique/form your not going to get results.
Finally, you made a huge mistake. Do no take 2-3 weeks of break from lifting. That is being stupid. You should rest your body or the specific muscle for 1-2 days not weeks. Eat more, less cardio, NO LONG BREAKS, do heavy sets low reps, and keep at it. Goodluck.
When I lift, compound exercises are really helpful. I go to the gym and use freeweights pretty much every other day. I use the Stronglifts 5x5 routine. It's not ideal for "bulking up" per se (it builds denser, rather than larger muscle) but I have noticed a significant change in my muscle size after doing it for 3 months. I've already doubled what I can bench, and I'm fairly skinny at 5'9" and 135 lbs. Just keep on schedule, and your body will get used to it. Also eat a lot of protein, and lay off the cardio if you want to bulk up. If you burn too many calories your body won't have any energy left to grow.
If you want your muscles to show don't drink anything for a week.

I don't recommend it though.
If you really want advice go to any weight lifting forum post a picture of yourself and the exact text "I'm 18 do I have potential?"
But in all seriousness try p90x. Yes the commercials are cheesy as hell and I do think the whole muscle memory stuff is B.S It actually really helped me.
I went from being able to do about 10 standard pull ups to 30 within the first month and a half. I also used creatine and nitric oxide to help.
To the above post, P90X does work but not for the results he wants. P90X is orientated towards those who want to lose weight and become extremely toned. As for your muscle growth you were using suppliments.
You should work out your brain instead of your muscles, just sayin'. :)
All this protein supplement shit and other stuff is rubbish. Just eat meat and other foods high in protein and you should be fine.
Honest to God, all my mates who use protein supplements look out of proportion and unnatural. If you're going for a natural look, do it the natural way. Just weight lift and eat protein.
