The best of a shite genre woo
I muchly enjoyed this movie - watching as both someone who never played much Warcraft (WoW or the RTS games) and with my wife who is much more familiar with the setting. Was it perfect? Far from it. But it was good fun, and I loved seeing decent orcs, knights with steampunk pistols and heavy magic brought to the big screen. They had a ton of stuff to cover which definitely gave it a feel of cluttering and I disliked the editing (lots of cuts were way too quick or were a bit confusing) but there's definitely a strong base for future movies and I hope to see it. Definitely the best video game movie so far.
It's definitely the most faithful to the source material despite the stuff they did change. You can tell this was a passion project for Jones, but it's a shame the first 30 minutes was so all over the place because of all the cut footage. Hopefully they release a director's cut eventually.
What, no love for the Dungeon Siege movie with Jason Statham?
Honestly it was much better than I was expecting. Still not great, but for some fun fantasy schlock you can do a lot worse.

China did it.

It's pretty great that this was so successful, since while I never played Orcs and Humans, I'm pretty eager to see them bring Tides of Darkness/Beyond the Dark Portal to the main screen. With this movie's success, surely a sequel is bound to happen.

Even in the book, Legolas walks on fucking snow but heaven forbid he steps on falling rocks. Sure the scene looks pretty goofy instead of badass like it's supposed to be but it's a fucking elf who have weird gravity-defying abilities in the world of Middle Earth. Now if it was Gimli or Aragorn (anything but an elf), it would be very stupid, I agree.

I thought the movie was a solid 5/10 ONLY because of the human stuff being so bland. The orc stuff was more interesting by far and I actually thought they had character.

He felt the original script with its "orcs bad humans good" thing made no sense and rightfully so. Unfortunately he seemingly didn't re-write the human part.
All I hear is that its not a great movie, but its a great B movie.
Reading over the cast, I don't know a single name there at all, like they just got a bunch of random people really.

That doesn't mean everyone's seen it though.

You know, while I feel the movie could have done a MUCH better job keeping to the lore, it wasn't a terrible film. The action scenes were fucking excellent in my opinion. Plus that CGI looked incredible imo, Blizzard's cinematic team at work. Edit: Nvm, guess that wasn't Blizzard's CGI. Still looked awesome. The only thing that really bothered me about the whole thing was the fact that a friend and I were the ONLY ones in the movie theater watching it. That and being the best "video game movie" is great and all, but its not much of an accomplishment when that genre is populated by shit like Super Mario Bros. and Doom.
Plus that CGI looked incredible imo, Blizzard's cinematic team at work.
Blizzard had nothing to do with the movie beyond the script and concept art. CGI was done by ILM.
The CGI was decent but god damn I hated every character, the Orcs made me want to cut my own throat, and humans were even worse, and the story was fucking... what [editline]21st June 2016[/editline] I hated this movie so much

Looked like Blizzard's handiwork. Here's to hoping Warcraft 2 will be better I guess? Assuming it doesn't take another 10 years to come out.
