• Second drive not showing up at all

I've recently bought a WD Caviar Green 1TB SATA WD10EARS HDD for use a secondary drive for storage, going with my Maxtor 250GB SATA primary/boot drive. I've screwed it in, attached power and data cable, but it won't show up, even in the BIOS. I've tried using the the cables of the primary drive and it still didn't show up, so the cables are probably fine. It seems to make noise, so it's probably turning on and the motherboard definitely has sufficient SATA controllers.
Go into disk manager and format the drive to be ntfs. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Create-and-format-a-hard-disk-partition Under "To create and format a partition (volume)"
The HDD doesn't appear in device manager, computer management or the BIOS.
The HDD must have been faulty, returned it and exchanged it for another that works.
