The game's far, far, far from being "competetive". The parrarels to CSGO will be made, even if the games are slightly different, but plenty of basic concepts still stand.
At the very moment, PC version is full of cheaters with FairFight (trademark) being eh, ineffective. And if not cheaters, then mad glitchers.
The netcode, or stuff around the netcode is awful - lag compensation rewards players who are lagging insanely handsomely. You might get players who start lagging on purpose - the second their ping goes into three digits, they have the advantage. It's also the source of hilarious killcams.
The animations are broken too - enemies don't exactly look where they aim, which might confuse you and make you unable to realize what was wrong.
While I really don't like the idea of a season pass on top of a 60 dollars game on top of fucking in-game microtransactions (I don't care they're just skins - this lack of care made microtransactions a standard feature in high budget AAA+ games wtf). At least it only works in a way that it gets you more XP, and new operators a week before everyone else for free.
Overall, the game isn't ready to be put into any serious league at this point. Unless these games are going to be heavily edited and moderated to make sure nothing goes wrong. Do you remember the "gameplay" video everyone got hyped up to? Ignoring the fact that it was obviously prerendered and not in game, it's nothing like the game is today.
Also, I haven't checked lately, but around ~5 hours before The Division beta launch, players were unable to play siege at all - the game threw a "servers are at capacity" error. And it's an online-only game!

all main DLC, like maps and operators, that they will ever make for the game are completely free because of the dumb skins that are completely ignorable

the old video was staged but it was definitely in a version of the game, with some parts scripted. the final game really is not much different. the video is completely achievable in the current game, it's dependent on playstyle.

Really? So if the microtransactions pay for the DLC, what do the season packs pay for?

Some parts scripted? The entire game is prerendered, with pretty much every animation blending perfectly.
Right, I forgot about the most hilarious parts of the game - every headshot kills. No matter if your weapon would take 20 hits in the legs, a headshot is a headshot. Especially on german operators who have large earmuffs - they're actually bats irl and die when they lose them.
The headshot instant-kill with any weapon is really stupid, and it's not realistic at all, no matter what. A pistol is as deadly as a sniper weapon, even machine pistols. It makes all balancing near impossible because every gun is a 1hit-kill to the head, even through walls. Even shields can get fucked by a simple small headshot, no matter if they're crouched or not moving. Having a damage modifier for the head would be much better, maybe 1.5 to even 2 if they feel particularly nasty. That and make it affected by armor values, ffs.

I'll agree that Siege is in no state to be given a competitive scene, but I have no idea where that jab at the reveal is coming from. I'll admit that the visuals are downgraded but the video does a perfectly fine job of showing off the basic gameplay elements.

Just curious, how much time have you put in Siege? I've played 50 hours of it, most of that with friends.
That dialogue, that's much more like the way the game really is than you'd be likely to think without experience playing it.

the same thing? look at the perks with the season pass, it's absolutely nothing - just like the microtransactions are.

yeah fair enough but the actual 'gameplay' is nearly the exact same, only major differences are that defenders are spotted when they go outside in retail, and you can blow holes through seemingly every floor

this is my favorite part about the game so I'm not going to argue your opinion

You could at least admit that the german earmuffs being part of the one-shot headshot hitbox is fucking bullshit, making them literally easier to headshot than other operators.

Nice nitpicking
Siege is fucking fun. At least for me, it's a much better and more intense csgo.
Unpopular opinion but whatever
