Can't go wrong with Fallout 3 GOTY and New Vegas Ultimate Edition. I'll never understand why the original games are still sold for 10 bucks base price though.
The Fallout Classic Collection is a good deal, effectively just over $3 each for two of the best RPGs to come out of the '90s, plus Tactics which I enjoyed but others have differing opinions. That being said, I would probably suggest getting the classic Fallout games on GOG. They're old, and may not work with newer systems. GOG generally tries to keep the games in their collection functional, and if they can't then the community usually can. Steam games' compatibility is up to the publisher, which for games like this usually means being dumped on DOSbox and left alone.
The steam version of the fallout collection comes with the high resolution patch and nothing else. Also worth mentioning that Fallout 3 is very likely to not run at all on any computer that uses Windows 7 or higher. Tweaks and fixes exist to correct it, but by default, it's a tough game to run due to the engine not being able to process quad-core processors and frequently crashing as a result.

I have played fo3 on both win 7,8 and 10 with no problems whatsoever. I also used to run it on an old amd quad cpu, and now I'm running it on a amd fx 8350 which is a 8 core cpu. People who fail to run fo3, must be doing something wrong.[/QUOTE] Been playing the game since release back in 2009 and running the game on any OS past XP has always been an issue, requiring several lines of tweaking in the ini files so that the engine only uses a limited amount of cores. Otherwise, the game freezes frequently and often crashes to desktop. It's always done this for me. A lot of people have the same issue. Even the steam store page mentions that the game is very likely to crash on windows 7 and further Operating Systems. If you managed to run the game by default with no modifications or use of any mods on Windows 7 and further, you got lucky, because I've heard more people having issues with running the game than people who got it to run easily. Note that the issue does not appear at all on dualcore CPUs since it's quadcores that cause the game to crash frequently.
Still wish Fallout 3 wasn't such a fucking project to run on ym computer without crashing

Fallout 3 for me in 7 and 8 on a quad core was as easy to fix as just editing one line in an .ini file so that it runs as a dual core program

And also on Steam.

Plus, there's the buy-both-games-and-ttw-that-shit alternative. [editline]23rd October 2015[/editline] And for anyone who cares, the same sale is going on in the Humble Store.
