US Central Command's Twitter account appears to have been hacked by a group claiming to back Islamic State.
One message said: "American soldiers, we are coming, watch your back."
It was signed by Isis, another name for the Islamic State. Some internal military documents also appeared on the Centcom Twitter feed.
US Centcom told the BBC it was preparing a statement. The Twitter account was later taken down so no tweets could be viewed.
The hack happened as President Barack Obama was preparing a speech on cybersecurity.
Subsequent posts on the Centcom Twitter account said: "Pentagon Networks Hacked! China Scenarios" and "Pentagon Networks Hacked. Korean Scenarios."
Some of the documents posted appeared to list names and phone numbers of members of the military as well as PowerPoint slides and maps.
The Centcom YouTube account was also hacked.
American and coalition war planes have been undertaking air strikes against IS in Iraq and Syria.

Our military capability has literally been squashed. ISIS will rue the day.
They haven't deleted any videos from the YouTube account, so their shitty hacking effort is juxtaposed against videos of ISIS getting actually fucked up in real life

I wonder if this could be back traced... Wouldn't be the first time people inside IS did anything dumb with technology.

Are you that 4Chan guy?
america is crippled by this merciless attack on its highest levels of national security
This indeed sounds like fat trolling. I mean, cybercaliphate? Cyberjihad? They can't be serious.
Here comes an influx of gimmicky followers and subscribers

I would be surprised if this is actually isis showing their sense of humor.
Well it's not like they control Twitters security.
DEFCON 1
Cybercaliphate sounds like something from a dystopian cyberpunk RPG
The cybercaliphate comes to cyberkill all of the cyberinfidels in the name of cyberallah.
don't even bother downloading the "leaked" documents, most of them are declassified and are already on the Internet.
"cybercaliphate" my ass...
They got into UNCLASSIFIED networks, leaking unclassified documents...some of which are dated 10+ years ago. Hell I think the newest document was from 2008.
And they probably didn't even bother clearing up their trail lol.

I don't remember this part of System Shock.

You laugh now, but you just wait until ISIS starts jamming US radars.
They're the kind of people insane enough to use raspberry.
If I were the hacker I would write something about illuminati and freemason.

"That prosthetic arm is not haram Jensen!"
I think they're copycats like most of the NK cases, but that would be too risky. Doing anything in the name of ISIS would probably mean death sentence.

It was hacked in the middle of Obama's speech on cybersecurity.. that's not fishy or anything.
The #CyberCaliphate sounds way more scary than the regular, non-hashtagged Caliphate.
[editline]12th January 2015[/editline]
They should name themselves #CyberCaliphate2.0
That tweet sounds hilariously cyberpunk!
