I couldn’t stop myself from rolling my eyes when publisher Square Enix announced that the next Deus Ex would be an iOS game. While many claim that mobile gaming is the future, I’ve remained skeptical. I like buttons, dammit! Not all this touching-and-swiping nonsense! The last Deus Ex, Human Revolution, was one of my favorite first-person shooter/role-playing game hybrids, largely because it was so complex. How could a sequel, out now, played on an iPad or iPhone even hope to compare to the real thing? Well, much to my surprise, it turns out it can come pretty darn close. Not buying it until there is a PC/Console port. But yeah, i admit the ideas and shit they are introducing story and gameplay wise (neuropozyne addiction stuff) sound interesting.
I don't know, Eurogamer made it sound much worse.
You can buy in-game currency and experience points with a couple of very real dollars.
Oh. Otherwise, it seems to be relatively good for an ios fps game (but how many of those aren't complete shit?)
Potentially good game, but bad marketing behind its announcement.
My trust in reviewers has gone down, I'll wait till I see some gameplay or community reviews first
I am pissed, I really love Deus ex and it's wanting an ipod touch 5 and up, I only have a 4:( Way to crush my dreams Square enix. Wishing there was an ios emulator.
People rating disagree. Why? Because you've personally played the game and know it's bad? Assuming because you've played a bunch of Gameloft FPS games that sucked? You aren't able to play it so are dismissing it?
i might download Ћ game
"We never asked for this" yadayada but seriously what were they thinking. Doesn't help the protagonist looks like a french Adam Jensen with slick backed hair and silly pants.
"muh controls"
good, responsive controls are now only for entitled spoiled babies. what, you expect a functioning game? you heard it here first from this genius poster, folks
good, responsive controls are now only for entitled spoiled babies. what, you expect a functioning game? you heard it here first from this genius poster, folks

It’s all just as much fun as it is on a console, but it really is surprising how well the experience translates to a touchscreen. You use your left thumb to move and your right to change your direction, which replicates the twin-stick setup most of us know from controllers

Here's your flaw. I don't like controllers and maybe he doesn't either. Not even half as responsive and intimate as a mouse and keyboard.
i might download Ћ game
Just like how you said "Oh Invisible War can't be too mediocre." I still had fun with it, but then I got stuck at a part and released it wasn't Ћ best out choices out there. Ћ iOS game may be okay, but that doesn't cover up Ћ fact it is iOS only.
Here's your flaw. I don't like controllers and maybe he doesn't either. Not even half as responsive and intimate as a mouse and keyboard.
Except you can't move as precisely with a keyboard/mouse. A controller is best for moving super carefully.
Except you can't move as precisely with a keyboard/mouse. A controller is best for moving super carefully.
Ћ movement area of a joystick is tiny compared to your mousepad so a joystick is actually factually less precise than a mouse but that doesn't mean Ћ controller / touchscreen is lacking in any major way, they're both certainly serviceable
I'm not a fan of touchscreen controls, they're just not as precise
Here's your flaw. I don't like controllers and maybe he doesn't either. Not even half as responsive and intimate as a mouse and keyboard.
Intimate? Lol. I think you mean intuitive perhaps. [editline]11th July 2013[/editline] I mean I'd legit be worried if you feel your keyboard is intimate.
"We never asked for this" yadayada but seriously what were they thinking. Doesn't help the protagonist looks like a french Adam Jensen with slick backed hair and silly pants.
It's supposed to be ben saxon but god damn that looks nothing like ben saxon.
I don't trust this "game journalism"
Apparently it doesn't work on Jailbroken devices, you can't fire your weapon. Even if you bought it legitimately.
Not even half as responsive and intimate as a mouse and keyboard.
I beg to disagree.
"muh controls"
There should be more phones like the xperia play.
It's supposed to be ben saxon but god damn that looks nothing like ben saxon.
How do you know what he looks like other than an artists super minor rendition on the cover of a book?
What the hell happened to Ben Saxon anyway? On the Icarus Effect cover, he looks all muscular and badass, while in the game he just looks like a pussy.
I've been playing it for the past ~10 min. It's honestly not a bad adaption to fit within the constraints of the mobile world. Some people want a PC port. You really don't, it's not a PC game, if you really want to get the story just to keep your Deus Ex knowledge complete just watch someone else play through it. There's definitely compromises but I like it a lot better than a lot of the stuff gameloft puts out. [editline]11th July 2013[/editline]
Apparently it doesn't work on Jailbroken devices, you can't fire your weapon. Even if you bought it legitimately.
Interesting. Not sure how they'd implement that but I remember Chrome for iOS crashing on jailbroken 6.1.2 for some time due to a bug so it's definitely possible to cause crippling effects to jailbreak users. It's working fine on iOS 7 11A4414e.
if you really want to get the story just to keep your Deus Ex knowledge complete just watch someone else play through it.
Or just read Icarus Effect, seeing as it looks to be a adaptation of that.
Or just read Icarus Effect, seeing as it looks to be a adaptation of that.
It's a followup to Icarus Effect.
I am pissed, I really love Deus ex and it's wanting an ipod touch 5 and up, I only have a 4:( Way to crush my dreams Square enix. Wishing there was an ios emulator.
As tech moves forward, older devices become too outdated to support. It's been that way since the beginning of the computer. The Fall doesn't run on anything behind an iPad 3 because the iOS devices before that had 128 MB of RAM - even when playing games, most of it is used by the system for other processes. The newer models have 516 MB and the iPhone 5 has an entire 1 GB of RAM.
