• King Leonidas Was My Landlord

So my mother just told me a very interesting story. Shortly after I was born in 1992, my parents and I were moving into another apartment because our current landlord was being an asshole. There was a blizzard and our roof had fallen in, yet he took no responsibility in paying for it or repairs. Things eventually went to court and my parents lost, but it was no big deal. Didn't involve a lot of money. So a few weeks after we moved, Sam Childers (the "asshole" who was our landlord) had a revelation. Mind you, before this he was a drunk drug using biker. Here's a quote from Wikipedia:
In the summer of 1992, Childers experienced what he described as a conversion to Christianity at a revival meeting at an Assembly of God church. That same evening Childers' pastor prophesied that he would go to Africa. At the end of 1998, Childers made his first trip to Sudan. In that first trip and the many that followed, he was exposed to the acts of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) which he described as atrocious. Not long after his first trip to Sudan, Childers and his wife Lynn founded the Angels of East Africa, the Children's Village in Southern Sudan. The Children’s Village currently houses and educates over 300 orphans, with over a thousand children rescued since its inception. The staff at the Children's Village are primarily Sudanese orphans and widows themselves. This is currently the largest orphanage in Southern Sudan and is unique in its approach of leading armed rescue missions directly into LRA territory. Childers details the events of his life and his experiences in Africa in his book Another Man's War. In November 2009, Childers appeared on Debra Peppers' television show Outreach Connection in Quincy, Illinois. He revealed that he also rescues children abducted in northern Uganda.
Turns out that a movie was made about him last year. Gerard Butler. So, in retrospect, Gerard Butler played my landlord. Just thought I'd share this with you guys because I just found out a few minutes ago. TLDR: Don't try to sue King Leonidas. It won't work. :v:
There's a movie called Machine Gun Preacher, and it stars Gerard Butler playing a landlord?
Why do I keep misreading his name as "Childrens"
Why do I keep misreading his name as "Childrens"
Because the two words share similarities.
The Children’s Village currently houses and educates over 300 orphans
:v:
So he saved countless children in Africa, but he's a dick landlord?
So he saved countless children in Africa, but he's a dick landlord?
Was* But he found Jesus. :v:

I would love to meet Childers. I read a lot about him. Now of course.... now before, don't like being shanked
I read his book, "Another Man's War." It's a great read, if you don't mind a lot of religious references.
Guess he was not that much of an ass after all.
Not gonna lie, "Machine Gun Preacher" sounds really fucking badass.
