Citing her lackluster support among young voters, campaign consultants to Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential frontrunner who has served as both a U.S. senator and secretary of state, reportedly instructed the candidate this week to be more inspiring. “Right now, voters are looking for a candidate who stands for real societal change, someone who can stir something inside them,” said media advisor Jim Margolis, urging the woman—who overcame entrenched societal biases to build a successful legal career, became the first female senator elected in the state of New York, oversaw the Department of State during a period of widespread international tumult, and, if elected, would be the first female president in American history—to appear more uplifting to voters. “Many young people have completely lost faith in the political process, and they want to believe that true progress is actually possible. They want someone who embodies progressive ideals.” Margolis added that Clinton was too much a part of the establishment she spent decades breaking down barriers to enter.
Hand on the shoulder, finger on the trigger...
You do have to admit, she's probably gone further in politics than any other woman in American history. Except maybe Condoleezza Rice

How so? She wasn't the first female Secretary of State, and she wasn't the first female senator by a long shot.
Edit: I guess a female presidential candidate hasn't done this well before, but that's about it.
Not to imply that proboardslol is a Hillary supporter, but as far as I can tell the only person that gives a shit that Hillary is a woman is Hillary (and her camp).

I measure "going further" as a function of not playing into the political games and making progress.
It's easy if you're a ruthless kiss-ass with a foot in the door.
wow, that's shady as hell. fuck the onion.
i think it's supposed be satire
Non-satiric article from Onion is pretty much a satire on it's own :v:
This must be an elaborate ruse to fool new readers into thinking that the rest of the Onion is a legitimate news source.
Otherwise I don't see the point for the investor, why urge them to write a serious article on a website where people would expect it to be satire like everything else? It'll only lead to over-analyzing to find a hidden joke followed by disappointment.
If they do more serious articles then that would make the Onion far less fun to read if you have to figure out if the article you're reading is satire or not (especially with all the kooky stuff politicians are saying lately).
The Onion without satire isn't worth reading.
it is a serious article but i wouldn't really call it satire, more passive aggressive, which they have done other articles much like it before
Article isnt really ass kissing, it just isnt satire. It only is true to an extent.
And probably this was a one time thing so, not much harm done.
the article is completely propping her up as an inspirational figure though
they're being paid to use satire to fluff up a politician's campaign and that's pretty fucked

He's a Hillary supporter and has backed her up in multiple threads about Bernie, going completely out of his way to represent her as a saint and Bernie as a demagogue. Literally every thread about the democratic nomination is him defending her in some way or another. I'm actually starting to think that he's working for her campaign.

Paying people to say good things? WHY I NEVER
I can't believe Hillary would stoop so low and do what no politician has ever done before and pay someone for good press.
God, do you live under a rock? Literally every politician does this in one shape or form.

hence why i said "fuck the onion", not "fuck hillary"

I would say dug a deeper hole than any other woman in American History.

There's a reason most of the staff writers are trying to move over to clickhole.

Yeah, and it's stupid. Saying "it is what it is" is a shitty excuse for anything.
The Onion run articles like that all the time. This is just conspiracy theory bullshit.
Which other ones have you seen? I follow them on Facebook and haven't seen stuff like this before.
well, i'm just going to take it and everything else on the onion as satire just like I always have, regardless of actual intent.
the onion is making fun of people who hate hillary clinton for no reason, and as a person who hates hillary clinton for no reason, I'm against that
This reads practically like a campaign ad but since its the Onion it could be intentional
People invest in The Onion?

Can't deny that.. but she plays the game like everyone else - which was my point.
Flip-flopping on topics because it is in your best interests to get elected/re-elected is different to fighting consistently for one cause against public consensus, or coming to a change of mind when it otherwise isn't necessarily going to effect your chances of being elected in an election cycle.
this isnt really any surprise, the onion has always been pretty liberal-leaning
Aren't you meant to mark out sponsored content?
Can you US-based FPers tell your FCC/FTC about it?

The fact that Hilary is a woman plays a massive role in the amount of support that she gets. The corporate connections and Clinton name however are more important.

I'm simply examining her own personal trajectory. Her credentials as a leader aside, she has truly excelled in making her career. I think other women could look up to her as someone who shatters the glass ceiling.

I am a Hillary supporter (it's funny how you phrased that. Being a Hillary supporter is a slur now :v:), but I'm not voting for her because she's a woman. I was just noting that Hillary is probably the most powerful American woman alive, if not in American history. Regardless of your politics, I think that someone who is that successful in her career is a model for women everywhere.
