4 GB patch... Isn't that about a fifth of the game?
At least Gearbox stays with their games longer than half a year. EA didn't even stay 1 month with SimCity before abandoning it like a freshly shoveled body in a trash bin. Valve takes the cake, though, with patches and updates continuing to this day.
Comparing SimCity to A:CM is like comparing Day of Defeat: Source to Medal of Honor: Warfighter. There is practically nothing Gearbox can do to redeem A:CM now. The game is so broken beyond repair: even if the AI is fixed up, Gearbox just made too many wrong choices in development. Even if you resolve all of the game's bugs, you'll still end up with a subpar shooter. Like MoH:W, A:CM was simply a bad game by the time development finished. It was never going to reach above a 79 on meatcritic, and all of the lousy bugs simply weighed it down. Meanwhile, SimCity is a pretty solid game with some annoying features. Like Valve's Orange Box implementation for DoD:S, EA will probably eventually listen to their consumers and reasonably fix the game's issues (in this case, DRM). But, in A:CM's case, a turd is a turd no matter how polished it looks. It's still a turd.

And Valve sucks when it comes to updating old games for the most part, DoD:S, CS:S and HL2:DM have been abandoned, the only reason that they keep updating TF2 is because it's easier and more profitable than making a new game.
