• Let's Create An Album, Theme: "The Future of the Past"

Allow us to gather and make another album. This time we will be having a theme, and it will be the future of the past. Basically I was thinking something like perhaps, "ENIAC: The Future of 1946" and it the album would be about how we did or would imagine the future back then. Picture low hovering cars, automated house cleaning, robots fighting wars, exploring the space in small transport devices aswell as going deep into atom physics and creating horrible weapons. Stuff like that. Changes and tweaks are possible, if you have any suggestions, but for now let's use this to work with for start. The Future of 1946 Any genre or kind of music should be fine, but we'll want to have a futuristic feel and a vintage sound or the other way around, or something like that. Like a 12-bar blues techno song, or some fusion moon jazz, perhaps some hardcore metal about a crazy nazi-experiment after the third reich's fall. I'll try and steer this up as best I can. So let's begin. Whom would like to participate and what are your thoughts, suggestions, ideas, anything? Oh my god this sounds amazing :neckbeard: Sign me up!
Awesome, I'd love to participate, not sure if I'll have the time/energy though! [editline]8th May 2011[/editline] Eh the hell. Sign me up.
Sweet, when we got an amount of people who'll participant I'll make a list for 'planned songs' so that we have some kind of schedule or something to follow/aim for.
So is this purely speculative? As in, are these songs talking about how amazing the future will be when these happen, or is this an alternate timeline where these things exist?
I guess as if we are living in the 70's, or 80's or something, but the way people did or would imagine it in 1946. The same way we imagine how the 2030's gonna be and stuff.
Oh okay, so it's speculative, good to know :buddy:
Like The Jetsons or A Space Odyssey? That seems cool, put me on the list for now, I might be able to come up with something.
I could give it a shot
I haven't got any methods of recording anything, but if you need a lyricist or some spoken word I'll be more than happy to give it up
That idea sounds familiar. Oh, yeah - http://www.gamesradar.com/f/portal-2s-dynamic-music-an-interview-with-composer-mike-morasky-and-five-tracks-to-listen-to-now/a-201104121507877073
GR: Can you point to any specific inspirations for the music of Portal and Portal 2? MM: Portal 1 had two distinctly different styles. The test chambers had a sort of "future of the 70's" vibe. Then, once you were "behind the scenes," it very consciously shifted to more of a "future of the 80's" style. Portal 2 covers enough eras and moods that it'd be difficult to fully categorize them. It does, however, continue the "future of the past (modernized)" design sense established in Portal 1. There is electric piano via minimalism, minimalism via contemporary synths, chiptunes via mangling, even operetta via 80's sampling. The "old future through a new lens" design choice, even in the first Portal, was very much in keeping with the overall design of Aperture Science as an institution.
Sounds pretty similar. [editline]9th May 2011[/editline] I'm not saying it's a bad idea, I'm just saying it's not that original.
I guess, though I believe this is more like making a "plasma tommy gun".
Sounds great. Sign me up!
I believe we're enought people, for now, to atleast start putting up some kind of schedule of songs that we're going to create and record. So post the song you're planning to make, a title or just "Project X" if you know you'll make a song but not what it's gonna be. I'll probably be making 2 songs, a piano boogie or blues and I'll try and make some techno jazz or gospel or something.
Mine is going to be called "Hoverboards And You!" until I come up with a better name.
Sounds really awesome, I'm in if possible!
Sounds really awesome, I'm in if possible!
Ofcourse, go and think something up!
I am definitely doing this.
I got 2 different style songs for this album under work now. Here is the first one, which is a bit poppy. Here is the second one, which is a bit jazzy.
I've been working on this for a while, I'm not sure if I like some of it. I guess I'm just looking for your guys' opinions.
I wanna be a spaceman musicman

Just some suggestions. [editline]14th May 2011[/editline]
I've been working on this for a while, I'm not sure if I like some of it. I'll add it as a project to the list, unless you wish it not to.
Ofcourse I will be filling the songs up, since both of them are still just WIPs. But which one do you like more?
I do like the last one the most.
I do like the last one the most.
So do I. I kind of made the other one just because a friend of mine said to me that I should do something with only drums, bass and keyboard, since all my other songs just sound like metal.
It appears that I don't have enough time to make anything for this :/ Count me out.
It appears that I don't have enough time to make anything for this :/ Count me out.
Aw that sucks, but anyways if you come up with anything or change your mind just post. This project won't be over in a week or a moment, will probably take a little while to get it up and going :v:

I'm interested, but I don't know if I'll make it, I have lots of other things to do. :v:
Is there any room for me 2 ? :3 Is there any deadline?
