Hi Facepunch! I was hoping you would be able to help me with something.
I've recently ordered an Asus EeePC1011PX from Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005FW9SPQ and have been reading about it whilst waiting for it to be delivered. I saw it came with Express Gate, and was reading about that, and how I can just press one button to use it.
However, the 1011PX doesn't have that seperate button to boot straight into Express Gate rather than Windows, is it still possible for me to use it? I assume I would be able to, otherwise Amazon would not mention it in the listing, but I cannot see how I would be able to without the nifty button. Google came up with no results.
Thank you in advance.
Well I have express gate on my mobo(personally it's a useless feature to me) and it's actually a splash screen before windows boots up. So I think it's mistaken when it says you press a button to access it.
Thanks for the quick reply.
Some models come with a separate button to boot into Express Gate, usually located on the left of the netbook, but the 1011PX doesn't.
I realise it can be considered a useless feature, but I find it handy for when I quickly want to look something up and don't want to wait for Windows to boot.

The Express Gate button is on the left, and the standard Windows button is on the right.
Express Gate is useful for when your installation is borked, but a LiveCD is even better
I have it on my 1015PN where you can push a button and it starts it up instead of windows and it is terrible. It would be cool if the UI was not really slow and clunky and if you can make changes to it more easy, and to make it worse it would sometimes start with the regular power button. As I recall there was a way to make it load a different OS(like a useful Linux distro).
My model has a dedicated button, but if I'm not mistaken the function key and the hot key to change the power settings (the running man) being pressed at boot should bring it up for you.
raceingdemon - I found a bit about installing a different OS whilst searching on the net, I'll probably end up installing Ubuntu shortly after getting it.
Dalto11 - Thank you :) I appreciate it.
