Hey guys I was looking around, and I feel lost more then usual with what I should do regarding my computer.
Right.. Lets get started with specs.
CPU:
AMD Phenom II X4 945
GPU:
GT 220 1024MB (Running at 1680x1050)
Motherboard:
ASUS M4A785-M
RAM:
(Quiet a Mixture But Speccy is Giving This)
7.0GB STT DDR2 running at 335MHZ
PSU:
BFG ATX 12v 2.2 550 Watt
My current budget is $150-$250 Range.. In your honest oppinion what should I upgrade.
Another thing thats be on my mind...
Is it possible to get a converter/adapter to make room for another video card?
I scanned the web, and found this but I was wondering it was pratical enough so I could adapt, and use this for say a secondary video card for crossfiring.
yes and no
Yes you can use that for another video card
No it may not give you Xfire or SLI as that is handled by the chipset, and it will only operate at like x1 which probably won't do much if it works

If you are willing to max out your 250 that is a good option, but this is better http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150523&cm_re=6950_1gb-_-14-150-523-_-Product
Get the 6950.
I don't know if I can trust this but it's saying the 560 is faster.

So everything else about my computer, other then the video card is alright?

560 usually takes the lead in TWIMTBP games and at lower res:
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/331?vs=330
only get a 560 if you get it for considerably less than a 6950
also joeskylynx what is your resolution?
1680x1050 on Acer V223W Monitor.
I'd still say go with the 6950 1GB over a 560. Doesn't perform notably faster even at 1680x1050, atleast, to make it worth the same price. However, if you can get a 560 for less $$ (sale, MIR or something) go for it
I will definatly check into it! Thank you!
You guys wanna hear something ridicilous though? My dad suggested we goto a local computer shop, and I went on their site too see how much the 6950 was there... It was $310... I was so confused considering they sold some parts realtively cheaper before, and they up all their video card cost by atleast $20 - $80

Extremely biased tests. That's a shit site, use a wider spectrum of games, and the 6950 will smash the GTX 560's balls. In CF it kills the GTX 570's too, right now.

LOOK HERE, THE 5870 IS BETTER THAN A GTX 570 BECAUSE IT SAYS SO IN ONE TEST!!!11!!
Isn't really making alot of sense, right?
Jez.... This is a tough one, I'm trying to decide between the MSI 560 or get an ATI 6950...
For anyone who can help me with this, I'm not a big overclocker, I presently OC'ed my GT220 just for the pure fact I was frustrated with how it percieved low FPS on, medium graphics on Bad Company. Running at 1680x1050, I only play a good majority of the following.
Bad Company 2
Most Source Games
WW2: Online
Other then that not a whole lot. My main ground is getting better graphics/better fps in Bad Company 2. With that being said... Which card would fit me better?
The GTX 560 seems to perform best in BF:BC2: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/40119-nvidia-geforce-gtx-560-ti-1gb-review-9.html
In my opinion, this isn't a very good review, thuogh, as most of games are pretty Nvidia-favoring. In most reviews, the 6950 is a fair bit better than the GTX 560, but if you "just" want to play BF:BC2 and some of the other games in that review, you'll get more out of the GTX 560. If you want to CF/SLI, the 6950 is the way to go right now, though.
As of presently I really couldn't SLI/CF even if I wished too(Would require a new Mobo)
Generally the 6950 performs better, but the GTX 560 is some 1-2 FPS faster in BF:BC2. If you play DiRT 2 or whatever, the GTX 560 is also most favorable. Either of these card will kick any games' butt right now, anyways.
I guess I'll go with the 6950.
Go for 6950, you can flash 6970 bios on it and overclock it to match 6970 and then its an identical card.

That's not certain.
Il try it myself in a few days when i get my 6950 2gb, hopefully i wont fuck myself over too bad.

With dual BIOS, it can't really go on. I'm getting my 6950 in a few days myself.

Well... Update time! My dad has recently informed that he'll be getting a good sum of cash soon, and said he wants to help build up our present computer. The budget isn't really in much concern as long as it doesn't go over $700.
I plan on up'ing too this motherboard> http://www.msi.com/product/mb/890FXA-GD70.html
I'm going to upgrade my RAM
I'm going to upgrade my Video Card to the Twin Frozer 6950 (MSI orgasm lol....)
I'm either going to keep or drop my CPU (AMD Phenom II X4 945), most likely keep though considering it's been a really, really, good CPU for such a period of time.
I'll most likely need a new PSU.. 550 Watts might not cut it soon (I love my little BFG though :frown: )
So my main concerns are RAM/Fan/Power Supply. Hit me up gentlemen, and keep it inside the $700 - $800 range
EDIT:
Also a new sound card would be nice!
Get a whole new PC then, for $700, alternatively get a new motherboard for AM3, a great GPU (6950?), the PSU is probably fine, 550 is plenty if it's a good model and you're not xfiring, 4-8GB DDR3, and for a sound card if you want get a Xonar.
Might as well get sandy bridge though.
i5 2400k + motherboard + 4-8GB DDR3, a GPU all won't cost that much since you wouldn't need a PSU, case, or HDD.
I'm more of an AMD man myself. So if you wanna shoot in the dark with that please do so.
Don't be brand bias, I prefer AMD as well but if you're upgrading right now, Intel is the way to go. Wait until around November and you can get new AMD CPUs. Right now it's a pretty bad idea to get a new AMD motherboard just for DDR3 RAM.
So if I were to get a new motherboard as of right now, with all brand bias aside which would be the best for my buck?
