I took off the lid that protects the fan, but I can't get that black thingey outta here. The problem is, my screwdriver can't get to the place where the screw is. It's not visible here I think, but it's under the lid on the upper left part. I don't wanna be a barbarian. :smith:
What is the make and model?
Acer Aspire 7730g.
You have to take the laptop completely apart right down to the mobo.
If you just use air you shouldn't need to take the fan off.

I'm cleaning the PC since it began heating hotter than it was while I'm playing something and the fan's working a bit louder than it was. My PC is 1.5 years old and I've just recently faced this problem. So I'm trying to clean it and don't know how to take the fan off.
You can probably get almost all of the dust out just with some compressed air, no need to take the fan out.

Blow air through the outside vent so the dust goes back through the fan and out of the laptop. Taking laptops apart is a pain in the ass and takes hours, even if you have the destructions to do it.
Don't think it'll get all the dust outta there, but I'll try some time soon, thanks.
Make sure you reapply thermal compound if you're taking the heatsink off.
