this red ink is the reason I will fail the next test, I also can't math

A school has banned teachers from marking in red pen because is it judged a ‘very negative colour’.
Teachers at Mounts Bay Academy near Penzance, Cornwall, have reportedly been told to use green pens instead.
Pupils, meanwhile, are being asked to comment on marking using purple pens.
According to The Cornishman, the new system is designed to encourage dialogue between teachers and students.
‘Switching to the new marking system is certainly not about us going all soft and fuzzy,' vice principal Jennie Hick told the paper.
She said that the system will see teachers make ‘two or three positive comments’ about homework.
She told the paper: ‘I think it was felt that red ink was a very negative colour.’
However, Campaign for Real Education chairman Chris McGovern told the paper that, in fact, students prefer red ink because it makes comments easier to read.
He said: ‘A lot of schools seem to have a culture where they don’t like criticizing children but actually this helps them.’
It is hoped this will encourage pupils to not just look for their overall marks, but get them to respond with comments of their own.
what a world
The french ministry of education actually tried to make teachers stop using red ink for that same reason and encouraged them to use green or purple.
Literally no one followed that advice.
That's the point. It's negative so that the people otherwise notice their mistakes instantly. White and red compliment each other. Teachers use red since it's negative on purpose.

You're banning an ink color because it's a negative color, how the flying fuck is that not about you going soft?

That is dumb because then green or purple would become the new negative colour association (assuming the student does badly - whatever colour it is could have a positive association if the student gets good marks).
the only solution is to use a different colour every time. grade me a rainbow
Stop saying such mean things. You'll make the principal cry.

The only solution in the end is to use stickers.

OHHHHH. It's in Cornwall. That strangely makes sense for some reason. Odd people, that lot.

Red = sign that you need to STOP FUCKING OFF
I really don't get how green is better, students might think it's not as bad, as silly as it sounds, which is just going to be shittier in the long run
So what, bad marks will be banned too? A 50% will be "acceptable" and everything above will be things like "good", "great", "excellent"?
Extreme negativity is one thing, but a kid needs to know when they fucked up. That's how you learn. At least it's a pen color they banned this time.
People are conditioned into seeing red as a negative colour because it is used for this very purpose-- marking wrong answers. Start using purple or green and within due time it'll start to serve the same purpose and with it the same conditioned association.
Great job.

the same people that want to ban red ink are the ones that say "Everyone is a winner", to everyone is a soccer to teach "Fairness" and to not hurt peoples feelings, "Awww well your still a winner, you deserve a pat on the back honey, you did good!"
which is honestly bullshit, how the hell do people know to improve themselves if they're called a winner all the time
I wish soccer moms would piss off with this. No one gives a shit about fairness when getting a job, if you suck at it, you lose your job, no one's going to pat you on your back, they're going to tell you to fuck off, and don't care about how you feel about it.
Its like in "My Gym Partner's a Monkey", they don't give letter grades, they give generic positive stickers on their report cards.
"Straight Unicorns"
Main character points out that literally no effort has to be given then because they'll always pass, so everyone sleeps through class the next day and then they go to the letter system. Plunging the entire school into chaos and anarchy as the smart kids are singled out as threats to the rest of the school's grades.

yeah. I kinda fear for the next generation of kids, when adults get ideas like this. they'll be fucked for the real world. do your job and help raise the kid right
red is "negative" because its fucking associated with failure
switching the fucking colour to green will only make green associated with failure

I was always afraid of seeing that huge YOU ARE BANNED splashpage when I've been banned before. Shit made me fear the RED
I blame Facepunch for this
uh dude
can you please change the colour of your post
its making me cry
a thousand years of darkness
our smartphones will provide the light exposure we require when the darkness overshadows the earth.
And we'll eat boomers
seeing your test sheet covered with red corrections does give a sense of negativity and failure, but that also encourages the student to study harder and do better. no damage done, no need to ban it. it's stupid.

uhhh no idiot smartphones cause radiation sickness
all technology is banned and everyone eats hyper organic tofu
As stupid as this is, colors do impact moods and mental states. Red is known for making people slightly more aggressive, it can also trigger pretty strong emotions. I always freak the hell out when i see the ever familiar red on a graded paper.
can the whole world just grow a little more backbone?
please?

If the red is ever familiar maybe you should put more effort into schoolwork
"freak out"? what the fuck? :v:
You don't get that feeling that you're fucking up? I always get a little more than uneasy when i see it. Probably has to do with how i had strict parents and any minor fuckup was pretty bad.
