I have a HIS ATI Radeon HD 4650 512mb graphics card. The problem is that sometimes the fan slows down and makes a weird noise, and the card gets hot. When the fan does this, I turn off my computer, tilt it to the side, and turn it back on, then put it back down and it works fine for hours or even days. Sometimes I don't even have to turn it off, it just starts working normally again. I have a 450W Power supply Intel Pentium D 920 2.8GHz 4gb ram It only started happening a couple weeks ago, it was working fine for months. Do you think this is a problem with the fan, or a problem with the card itself?
Your thread has the same name as mine :( And shit, you have the same videocard, except that I got a MSI. And your problem almost is the same as mine! Anyway, I think you should buy a new fan, atleast, that is what I'm going to do.
My fan wasn't working properly no matter what I did just now. So as odd as it sounds, i overclocked it as high as I could, ran tf2 on highest settings, went in 2fort water as heavy and made lots of splashes with the minigun. the activity on the catalyst control center was 100%, the card got to 120C and then the computer shut down. now it's working fine again.
I'm going to try that once
it worked for awhile, but it acted up again. I just sent in a support ticket to HIS to try to see if i'm still under warranty.
Probably not since you just over-clocked it.
My advice is to get a new cooler. The best part is there's all kinds of fan-less coolers you can choose from that keep it cool AND you don't have to worry about a fan failure ruining your day.
Probably not since you just over-clocked it.
I software overclocked it.
Software OC still voids the warranty, unless you have dumped the EEPROMs on the GPU, rather than just writing down the stock configuration info
