So we had the the task to do a painting of a landscape in arts class.
I had played a lot of Halo 3 at that time and decided on drawing my favorite map: Valhalla

I chose a 40x60 cm canvas and acrylic colors to do this.
First day of work:

Final painting

I still don't know what mark I will get for that.
So, Facepunch, any criticism, tips or so?

Are your image tags working okay? I can't see them.
I'm reuploading to Mediafire, wait a second
Why are you uploading images to Mediafire?
I thought it would work, but no it doesn't
Use Imageshack or some other image hosting site.
... I don't have high hopes for the painting at this point
[QUOTE=Headcrab54;26570420]Use Imageshack or some other image hosting site.[/QUOTE]
Tried that at first, didn't work
:raise:
[QUOTE=ChestyMcGee;26570451]:raise:[/QUOTE]
Would you please help me with that problem?
EDIT: I will take care of that tomorrow
I don't know what to do. You go on a site like imageshack... you upload your picture, you put the link in here in between [img] [/img] It's all very self explanatory.
use tinypic.

I'm prepared to be very dissapinted.
Up for OP. It's unfortunately rather lousy. You didn't seem to create a diverse pallet at all, you need a lot more practice. There's no unity, nor is there any sort of flow. You simply copied a screenshot (And you unfortunately messed that up). Please develop a technique before submitting unnecessary work.

EDIT: You didn't even do any shadows or lighting. What sort of reaction did you expect?

Sorry, OP, that's not very impressive at all, needs much more detail, the rocks look extremely weird, tower is nowhere near straight in some places, it curves on your picture ( suggest using a ruler? )
Damn, I had semi-high hopes for it.
Well. Your handwriting is pretty nice and I also used to own a nice pair of black Converse like those.
That's the pros. I'll let someone else do the rest.
What the shit is that
saying that I'm mildly confus wound't sacrifice.

And an overstatement of the contury in the same thread!

Telling him to develop a technique won't do anyone anyhting
It is clear that this is just some paint shat on canvas cause the art course, he's not even aparrotly intrested in, told him to do something.
I'm just going to say that this is absolutely the lowest kind of shit possible, there's no point going into detail what needs improvement or what are the bad points cause I'd hit the character limit before I'm done, and you're dumb for posting that in this context. Just because it's the only thing with brushes you've done in your life doesn't mean it deserves anything, especially something as big as a therad.
If you are intrested in improval, however we could work something out for you.
Is this your GCSE by the way?

I don't like being undermined by THIS bad of a speller. :colbert:

strange as it may seem, listen to 3v's advice. If you can get past the fact that he beats it into your skull at times, he always has a good point to his posts. I find harsh reality to be infinitely more helpful in learning art than being coddled and told "aww, that's good! Keep going" when there's so much that just isn't 'good'.
3v3ryb0dy is an asshole in the eyes of the thin-skinned, but he gives you the best criticism you can get if you learn to listen and accept that your work isn't great - Nor good.
As I see it, your painting is unfinished. Don't throw away what you got, but assuming this is taken from a screen shot, learn that brown mountains aren't one shade of brown, grassy fields aren't one shade of green etc.
You won't make it perfect this time around, but if you keep it up and learn not to fear the brush you'll be able to do amazing things. Remember, talent doesn't come from birth, it comes from patience.

I agree. I used to not like him because of his cold nature - but then I started getting over myself and realizing that the advice he gives is actually pretty good. The times I've talked to him over steam have provided me a lot of good advice. He's a pretentious prick but you learn to love him.

we've been happily married for 50 years now :h:
Oh.
I was afraid to bother you over steam cause I knew you didn't like me
:ohdear:
Just some advice with landscapes:
-Composition of colour is key. Google some images of landscapes and skies to use as reference. Remember to have 3 of what I call non-conventional landscape colours; if you think about it landscapes have a lot of green, brown, grey and blue. Add 3 colours somehow that are not these and it makes the scene much more engaging and aesthetically pleasing.
-Remember light and shade. You may not have to be as strict with shading landscapes as you do with shading people because the layout of the land is your design. Light source is key!
- Depth of field and horizon. Use these effectively and your scene will look less 2D.
-Don't neglect the small detail!
