Trump’s business sought deal on a Trump Tower in Moscow while he ran for president

While Donald Trump was running for president in late 2015 and early 2016, his company was pursuing a plan to develop a massive Trump Tower in Moscow, according to several people familiar with the proposal and new records reviewed by Trump Organization lawyers.
As part of the discussions, a Russian-born real estate developer urged Trump to come to Moscow to tout the proposal and suggested he could get President Vladimir Putin to say “great things” about Trump, according to several people who have been briefed on his correspondence.
The developer, Felix Sater, predicted in a November 2015 email that he and Trump Organization leaders would soon be celebrating — both one of the biggest residential projects in real estate history and Donald Trump’s election as president, according to two of the people with knowledge of the exchange.

Looking for a place to run to if he got caught, most like.
Friendly reminder that this lines up exactly with the Steele Dossier claims that Russia cultivated Trump with lucrative real estate deals :)
Sater was previously on record as saying a few weeks back that "he knows both he and the POTUS are going to prison" and that "In about the next 30 to 35 days, I will be the most colourful character you have ever talked about". At that time, "30-35" days lined up sometime around early September (around the time of the 1st-3rd).
Sater is an FBI asset and stayed out of jail for past crimes for being an FBI informant.
Expect more big news to come from Sater in the next week or so, I guess.

There is a pay-walled article on The Spectator, but a few sources have discussed excerpts from it in the past. A comment on Reddit about the Trump Tower news article from today posted interesting excerpts from The Spectator's article a few weeks back.
Trump’s most recent partner in 'selling a lot of condos' was a man called Felix Sater. Sater was once jailed for stabbing a man in the face with the broken stem of a martini glass. He was convicted of a massive stock fraud — a partnership between the Russian and Italian-American mafias - but stayed out of jail by becoming an FBI informant.
For several weeks there have been rumours that Sater is ready to rat again, agreeing to help Mueller. 'He has told family and friends he knows he and POTUS are going to prison,' someone talking to Mueller’s investigators informed me. Sater himself added fuel to this fire when he told New York magazine: 'In about the next 30 to 35 days, I will be the most colourful character you have ever talked about. Unfortunately, I can’t talk about it now, before it happens. And believe me, it ain’t anything as small as whether or not they’re gonna call me to the Senate committee.'
Sater and Manafort together would pose a deadly threat to Trump’s presidency if they testify that Russian money in his businesses led to information being exchanged with Russian intelligence. This is exactly the relationship - an 'exchange running between them for at least eight years' - that the former MI6 officer Christopher Steele described in his 'dossier'.

I really hope they tie this man to a semi truck and drag him through the desert, metaphorically. Come 2020, i want to see this party and this man completely politically dead.
Hmm, I thought we already knew about the tower.
Trump's business deals are lazy as fuck. He made a deal to let this company in Kazakhstan build a tower with his name on it, and while they were working it out the chairman of the bank that was providing most of this company's funding was being sued by the UK government because he funneled ~10 billion dollars out of the bank to offshore companies and fled to London.
Like maybe, dunno, google them first
During that time, Sater worked as an executive with Bayrock, whose offices were in Trump Tower, and brokered deals to license Trump’s name for developments in multiple U.S. and foreign cities. In 2010, Trump allowed Sater to briefly work out of Trump Organization office space and use a business card that identified him as a “senior adviser to Donald Trump.”
Still, when asked about Sater in 2013 court deposition, Trump said: “If he were sitting in the room right now, I really wouldn’t know what he looked like.” He added that he had spoken with Sater “not many” times.
Impeachment is still an option.
Or, rather, when (I hope not "if") his impeachment begins, this will be included in the pile of charges/evidence against him.
Remember, impeachment is a political, not legal, process. Congress can proceed with an impeachment against the President for essentially anything they don't like, if they're willing to have the effective precedent set that Presidents can expect to be impeached if they do the thing. It's just barely been tested and almost never even threatened because few Presidents have done something to warrant it.
Trump at war with the Republicans, and therefore handicapping their legislative progress for the rest of the year, can mean incredibly good news for Democrats in 2018 if they can get their collective heads unwedged from their own pelvises and listen to what voters are saying. Democrats taking control of the House in 2018 would be big trouble for Donnie.

This Sater stuff is interesting. Looking forward to what news September brings.. When that Steele dossier first came out I thought it was absolutely ridiculous. The idea of there existing a tape where the sitting president of the United States is watching Russian hookers piss on a hotel bed seemed so outlandish and unbelievable, but with all the developments as of late that seem to corroborate more and more of the dossier.. I hope some day that tape is made public, somehow.

Not just piss on a hotel bed, but piss on a hotel bed that the previous president slept on. Imagine being such a hateful little brat that you go out of your way to visit a hotel that a guy you don't like slept in once and pay people to piss on the bed he used.
[editline]28th August 2017[/editline]
As a tragic point that somebody brought up in response to this: if the piss tape is real, the prostitutes that Trump paid to do this have almost certainly been murdered by the Russian government to prevent their coming forward. His seething hatred for Obama, and his petty act of childish "revenge" likely ended up getting some young women killed.

Let's not get carried away now. How many claims did the dossier make and how many have been corroborated? Actually curious, but yeah, I don't think speculation about the piss tape thing is very helpful.

Well, Trump is a racist, and the president who embarrassed him at the WH Correspondent's dinner was Obama, so that cranked it to an 11 for him. Every policy Trump is reversing, good or bad, was an Obama one.

Before anyone starts definitively blaming him for that, even if the tape is real there are a lot of variables we don't know. If the Russian government recorded it, who's to say the "prostitutes" weren't on their payroll? Who's to say they're not imprisoned or haven't spoken out for some other reason? And Trump, as petty as he is, probably didn't think anybody would be murdered to hush up a conspiracy to make him president then blackmail him. Trump is dumb and reckless but if there were murders, the Russians are responsible.
On the other hand, as commander-in-chief Trump is responsible for the loss of thousands of lives anyway.
We are going to have the worse mental health crisis in years once this presidency is dissolved.

Yeah, it's speculation. I said if the piss tape is real. That said, nothing within the dossier has been proven false yet, while a lot of it has already been proven true. With each passing day, the claims made in that report are growing more credible.
