Although I like Michael Fassbender as an actor, I can't help but feel he's only on the project because he is "the next best thing". That is to say: the studios only want him on board because they believe his name will sell the movie. As the article says, story is the bigger issue here.
As Ben has written, the story is everything. Just look at Doom, it had Dwayne Johnson as main actor and even the BFG. That movie was average and the only part i liked about it was the first person view scene almost at the end of that movie. I really hope Assassins Creed won't turn into a mediocre movie.
i think spec ops the line would've made a better movie than a game

I mean, it had a pretty big budget for an R-rated movie ($60 million) They could have easily put Hell in, but no, you get shitty writing. I mean, video games movies can be decent (Prince of Persia was okay) so there is a chance, a tiny one, that it could be good.
PTSD: The Game: The Movie
Starring Nolan North as everybody
Assassin's Creed practically is a movie already in terms of story/presentation, it would take a lot of effort to fuck it up that badly.
