With that CPU, your choices for a motherboard are these. Pick one that has the features you want. You're also missing a hard drive, and while not strictly necessary, a DVD drive, unless you already have these. You'll also need a copy of Windows. Or you can use Linux. You probably want Windows though, right?
thanks for your help man. i was wondering if i could salvage my hard drive and my optical drive. is that possible?
If they use SATA plugs its very possible BUT you have to reinstall the OS.
get this PSU/Case combo http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.915250 and this mobo/CPU combo as well http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.910387
If they use SATA plugs its very possible BUT you have to reinstall the OS.
so if my current hdd was compatible then i wouldnt need to buy windows 7, i could just reinstall it?
assuming you have the disc you should be able to I'm pretty sure OEM Windows 7s are hardware locked but I hear if you call Microsoft they usually can clear that problem up for you.
If you do have to call up Microsoft, just say you had to replace the motherboard as your previous one was faulty. Don't mention about building a new computer.
