Any suggestions? It needs to be able to surpass a 8150 and the motherboard can't be made by Foxconn or MSI. I don't use Intel stuff so this is new to me.
I understand Foxconn, but what's wrong with MSI?

You can probably get this slightly cheaper from non-newegg vendors.
However, if you hadn't said no MSI, I would have recommended one which is both much better and cheaper (109.99 MSI G41 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130695).
Make sure you look at combo discounts, the GA-Z87X-UD3H is a very nice board that you can get pretty cheap with combos:

$239.99 i5-4670k
$179.99 GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-UD3H
-$80.00 Combo Discount
$339.98 Total

Well, a lot of MSI boards I've owned have blown themselves up because they couldn't handle the TDP they said they could handle under load. Prime95 seems to cook them extra crispy.
$5 cheaper, and you get GriD 2 and a Tshirt.

Well, the TDP is low on Intel - so I assume the amd tdp messed it up. but really, sounds like you have a bad psu
I bought a Haswell 4670K, a MSI H87-G43 and a hyper 212 evo. I don't know how well the board is going to do, but I got it because I didn't want to pay $140 for an ASUS mobo. But I got it setup and it runs. I don't know if its going to explode if I try and OC it.
I don't think you'll have to worry about cpu heat frying anything, I got a 212 on a 4670k and the highest temp I've seen is about 52c running prime95 with my case fans only at 800rpm or so... it runs much cooler than an AMD that's for sure.
I knew I should have spent the extra $50 on a Z87 board. But oh well.
Ehh, why did you buy a K-version with an H87 motherboard. You can't overclock on an H87 motherboard anyway, and that's the only real advantage the K-versions provide.
Might not be too late to send it back for an exchange *shrug*

Or refund whereupon alternative purchase may be made.
Whereupon I would recommend this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1352786&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Yeah I didn't know they locked overclocking down on the H87, I can't even change my memory timings to run at their rated speed. False advertising considering the box had overclocking friendly slogans plastered all over it. I'm using it right now though, so I'd probably have to pay a restocking fee or something. But even at 3.8Ghz turbo it's still an amazing processor. I'm happy, and the motherboard was only $90 so I didn't lose much. This CPU is amazing, at load its only doing at most 46C.
