Why do we still need this? Its so heavy I can't even begin to point out my frustration. I'm 19 years old, finnished high school in a lesser EU country and I've been looking to apply at universities in greater Europe, but it's near-to-impossible. The bureaucracy is mindboggling. I've been spending the past month filling applications and sending then, sometimes it takes hours to complete one for only 1 course, and then->surprise you have to PAY around 50euro so that it can ever be taken in consideration. You must print a paper, sign it and send it though post-office in another country, send them passport copies even though i have no passport, send them photos send ID copies send copy of the baccalaureate exam i didn't even take, because it is due to july, how twisted is that?At least they could make it universal for all countries to get the exam at a speciffic date, or for everyone to apply at a specific time. In my country you only apply at university after you get the diploma. Now I'm finding out that in other countries you send an application one or two years before finnishing high school.
I'm starting to consider it would be easier to just show up at the campus and "deal with it" rather than put up with anymore of this crap...
It's to weed out all the unmotivated morons who don't belong there in the first place.
Bureaucrats probably don't want the system to be incredibly simple and efficient.
They have an incentive to keep it complex with long processes so that more Bureaucrats can be hired. They value their secure jobs with comfortable wages.
Less government and more private competition would encourage more efficiency since they would have to please the customers.
