Woah, wait when did Prey 2 get cancelled again?
Fuck.

This one doesn't have that annoying anti-shake editing on it.
I REALLY hope this game is going to go ahead.
Like I said before, as good as Arkane are and as good as Dishonored was, I just don't have faith in their ability to do Prey 2 properly. It was supposed to have a large, free-roam, open world where you could tackle bounties and missions at your leisure. And frankly, I haven't seen anything that says Arkane can deliver on that. That's what they were originally trying to say we would get with Dishonored but that was not the case. Instead of a large open city you got small, sectioned-off, fairly linear areas with a few paths and some minor divergence from those paths at times. I'd rather it stick with Human Head because all work they had done on it looked good thus far.
Who knows, we might hear something at E3 since it will be two years later and we've had all this talk about it supposedly changing hands or being restarted. One can only hope.

damn that looked good
Is arkane starting from scratch? Or are they using human heads game as a base to polish and finish it up?

The rumor is that they are starting from scratch, yes.

God, the gameplay looked so good.
sigh.
Working hard on a game for months and months, showing a demo that everyone loves and hypes everyone up, seeing that your project has turned into something better than you could have ever expected, polishing up the design and basically finishing up the game
And then having all of your work, all of your teams work, be put on the shelf and ultimately thrown in the trash, never to be seen by anyone but your team and your publishers. All of your hard creative work was for nothing but a paycheck.
The video games industry is depressing, man.
I dont see why a great project such as this was benched anyway.
I mean god damn it's a motherfucking space-cowboy bounty-hunter game, how awesome is that.
Yeah, it's a shame. From that video it looked the gameplay could use a tiny bit of tuning but the world looked amazing.

fucking look at this
i mean, even from a purely economic standpoint, why would you bother taking a game that had taken this long to develop and just chucking it in the trash?
even the UK government actually finished building their aircraft carriers before scrapping them because it would have been too expensive to cancel the project
That's disappointing, prey was a pretty solid FPS. I find it funny that it's sequel is going through the same development hell/limbo, though.

I never understood why you would scrap anything that far in development. I mean even if you don't think it'll sell well isn't it better to release it and make some of the money back than to scrap it and basically throw all that money down the drain?

because if it were to be bad then it would ruin both the developers and the publishers image

Except human head is really proud of this game, and they're rather well known for doing stuff that WAY exceeds their actual budgets.
This is about politics and money.
Beth will not brook renegotiation even if devs exceed design doc specs, and they will not pay overtime over the amount they allotted, which in this particular case is bullshit. Human Head didn't make a 10 million seller, but they sure as hell made a great game with new concepts and play-factor that deserved to see the light of day.
Beth is completely in the wrong on this one.
