A visitor to President Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida posted a Facebook photo with a person he says is responsible for carrying the black bag that contains the nuclear launch codes for the president of the United States. ... The existence of the nuclear football isn't classified. Still, the pictures raise questions about the access enjoyed by Mar-a-Lago members, who have seen their annual membership fee double to $200,000 since Trump won the presidency. Trump is making a killing on the presidency
Trump is making a killing on the presidency
He's so giving though! He offered to take the presidency with a $1 salary (illegal, can't do that), and if forced, he will donate it to charity (he won't).
Another silly news article written entirely off of a Facebook post, I really hate these things. The article didn't make this very clear; did the guest even get anywhere near the case? It looks like the photo is just with the dude who *maybe* holds it.
Somehow, charging double membershit fees is perfectly legal after he should've dissociated himself totally from his businesses.
Once again, Sensationalism at it's finest. Nothing to see here.

I expect that to be revealed approximately never, even if it's being conducted ethically.
Once again, Sensationalism at it's finest. Nothing to see here.
Oh, glad you cleared that up for us.
So let me get this straight: man takes a picture with the person who usually carries the nuclear football - whose identity is not really a secret since these people are occasionally dressed in full military uniform complete with nametags (Hello there Lt. Commander Reynolds!). - we don't know if he carried the briefcase at the moment the photo was taken, since its cut off (I doubt thats the case, these are highly trained officers we are talking about and the guy posted another picture of him carrying it which would seem redundant if he did it in the first place) - the case itself is useless without a rigorous verification process that confirms that its actually the president What exactly is the huge issue with this? Or did I completely miss the point and the real problem are his visits to Mar-a-Lago?

This doesn't raise any questions about how seriously Trump actually takes the importance of his office?
It doesn't seem very safe if people can just walk right up to the person who holds the football.
Snip images aren't working
So you're fine with civilians being this close to two world leaders during an international incident?
So you're fine with civilians being this close to two world leaders during an international incident?
I am. World leaders visit places full of civilians all the time with their security detail (also visible in your picture). As for the incident part, thats not unheard of either even at much worse situations (off the top of my head: Bush wasn't evacuated instantly from the kindergarten classroom when he was informed about the situation during 9/11)
This doesn't raise any questions about how seriously Trump actually takes the importance of his office?
I believe this ultimately relies on the Secret Service, and they definitely wouldn't allow it if it carried any substantial risk. As to exactly what degree does Trump takes his office seriously, well I have my serious doubts too. But not because of the above.
It's not exactly wrong but it's really wierd. I'm used to people giving nuclear weapons a little more gravitas.
It doesn't seem very safe if people can just walk right up to the person who holds the football.
it's not like you could do anything if you somehow grabbed it for yourself or neutralized the guy holding it, there's a massive verification process before it's able to do anything not only that, but I'm sure if you tried to make a rush for the guy holding it, the guards would fill you full of holes faster than you can say "cheese"
to be honest who doesn't want to take a picture with a dude who is capable of destroying modern civilization by opening a suitcase. i want a photo and i hate having my photo taken
to be honest who doesn't want to take a picture with a dude who is capable of destroying modern civilization by opening a suitcase. i want a photo and i hate having my photo taken
There's nothing wrong with wanting that photo. There's everything wrong with granting that photo.
It's pretty scary to know that Donald Trump is essentially open carrying nuclear weapons
It's pretty scary to know that Donald Trump is essentially open carrying nuclear weapons
every president has done this
every president has done this
But every other President wasn't Donald Trump
Here is a full New York Times article about what went down in Mar-a-Lago. Some guy getting a selfie with a federal agent is the least of our concerns when the President and his guest, the Prime Minister of Japan, are discussing national and international security at his club surrounded by people with no security clearance. For his part, Spicer says there was no classified information and Trump was briefed in a secure location, but then that just makes this unbelievably unprofessional as opposed to criminal. It also reveals that Trump is still using his personal Android phone, which might be a security liability.
Sounds like quite the nontroversy.
