How do I convert MKV files to an uncompressed avi or an imagine sequence

Hi guys,
I've been having trouble converting MKV files to avi files. Adobe Premiere and After effects don't able to accept the files, I did try virtual dub and it didn't work either. What programs can I use to convert part of the files (I don't want the entire video) to an uncompressed avi or imagine sequence (1 image file per frame).
.mkv is just a container, there is usually just a .mp4 with aac audio inside it. Why are you trying to convert them? What are you trying to play them on?
Well the MKV file is just a container so you obviously need to extract its content before continuing.
Here's a guide on that:

MKV and AVI are identical.

The files playback fine on dvix player, I just wanted to use a scene. I'm not to certain what the codec is, but the videos came from HD-DVDs using Make MKV.
Yea divx has native mkv support. Like if you want to stream it to a ps3/xbox, use xenonmkv to convert to mp4:

If you just want to play it on your computer, get shark007 codecs:

Why do you need avi?
Uncompressed files work better in the editing programs. I'll be honest, I'm going to mess about with a few films and show friends, I don't really want to get to much into it.
Then http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/ can be used to extract the audio and video from the mkv container. There are some tutorials around that you can use.
Convert it with VLC.
Recommend you Video Converter. It supports you to convert MKV to AVI in batch at high speed. You can read a detail guide here: http://www.converter-video.com/mkv-converter/mkv-to-avi.html

Use Loopscicle:
It's a free desktop app.
You can import or just record part of a video and then export those frames to BMP/PNG frames or GIF/WEBM/AVI.
