Hey,
We were thinking of getting a retro, 70s style telephone like the one at: http://www.firebox.com/product/1763/Retro-Telephones. However, on just about all the models we found it states that they will not work on Virgin Media/Ex NTL: Telewest lines "due to pulse dialling tolerance differences".
We have a Virgin line so I was wondering if there's any method I can use to make the phone work.
Thanks.
Years ago the telephone exchange would recognise ticks (from spinning the wheel) as what ever number you are dialing. Nowadays they recognise the pitch of the tone from what number you press rather than tick noises.
BT still operate on both ticks and tones but newer virgin/NTL/Telewest lines do not work with ticks.
All I can guess is to dial using a touchtone phone then pick up the 70's phone.
Holy shit I want one if those.
Make a device that turns the ticks into a tone.

This is what I was thinking, but is there any guides for this sort of thing?
Also, I understand that I won't be able to make calls but I be right in thinking that I could still receive them with this phone?
Thanks.
