Following the news on Tuesday that an anonymous bidder had purchased Emergent and its ageing Gamebryo engine, it has come to light that South Korean company Gamebase is behind the deal.
As reported by gameindustry.biz, Gamebase plans to create a new US-based company which will be headed up by Emergent vice president of sales, David Brame. Gamebase has described itself as a long-time strategic partner of Emergent.
[U]

I wonder what games will come out of this...

Definitely some bad MMORPG.
They'll use it to simulate the NK invading army to make a mockery of them.
Good riddance.
and then defeat them by attacking diagonally

fucking automerge
Why would anybody purchase such an old and outdated engine?
Gamebyro is only bad for FPRPGs.
It's perfect for RTSs and the like.

Gamebryo was likely getting replaced soon anyway, if you can believe the devs TESV won't use it and new Fallout games neither, lets hope the new engine proves to be a worthy successor. Nothing of value was lost here.
I will watch in horror as my country all switch to another korean game. Seriously, I'm fucking annoyed how all my friends all play some gay korean game that makes you buy virtual cash. And all these games are free. Goddammit Worst korea, make some good games for god sake. For Asia's sake!

The new engine is the idTech5
The new engine is the idTech5
Nope. In-house engine, not idTech.
By the way guys, Oblivion and Fallout 3/NV weren't the only games to be made on gamebryo, diagonal running animations were only missing from those.
Games on Gamebryo:
Bully: Scholarship Edition
Dark Age of Camelot
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Fallout 3
Fallout: New Vegas
Divinity II: Ego Draconis
Divinity II - The Dragon Knight Saga
Sid Meier's Civilization IV
Sid Meier's Pirates!
Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning
Epic Mickey
Probably a shitty Korean Item Shop MMO, it seems to be all the video game industry there ever produces.

Informative, but I'm confused on that last sentence...
Civ IV was on it? HO-HO-HOLY SHIT! I love this engine!
They'll use it to simulate the NK invading army to make a mockery of them.
But then the entire army would fall through the map...
Hahahahahahhahaahh
I can't believe Civ IV was on Gamebryo. That game was nothing but moving diagonally and it looked fine!
wait, this "Gamebryo" is making Fallout MMO?
You guys don't get it, it's not GameBryo's fault that you can't run diagonally in FO3 and FO:NV.
Was I the only one who thought it said GameBro? (Reference to my avatar)
