Now I'm going to go back and start tinkering with everything, adding some atmosphere and instruments to make it sound bigger.[/del] Update: It's just about as done as it's gonna get now. Time for me to move on; hopefully it turned out alright. Free 320kbps download if you click the little button.
really nicely done, i love the synths i dont think the drum samples fit very well though (mainly the kick), and the beat is a little repetitive (just my opinion) aside from that though, great track
Funny you should say that, because I was just thinking about going back and experimenting with some alternate kicks and snares before I dive in and finish the song. I'll also probably mess around with the actual drum arrangement and have some little divergences here and there to make it more interesting. There's just a lot that needs to be worked on, but it gives me confidence that you think it's great even now. Edit: Funny story, the hi-hat track somehow got turned off somewhere along the line. Uploaded correct version with hi-hats. :downs:
K guys it's done I guess.
Wow, I'm really loving this. I especially like how the synths sound. What do you use for them? Great stuff man! :v:
I used Massive to make all of the synths, and EWQLSO for the symphonic instruments. Thanks!
It's really great! I just don't like how about everything is sidechained to the kick, I'd leave the violin totally unchained or a very subtle sidechain. I love the synths, so smooth, I can't make smooth synths with massive, they always end up sounding kinda harsh :v:
I toyed around with that a little bit actually! There's a violin that comes in around the second measure of the first synth section, which originally wasn't sidechained. It just seemed way to prominent and distracting, but lowering the volume didn't seem to do the trick. I set the sidechain threshold fairly low on that part (about -8 decibels) but it may still have been too drastic. In other news, I've decided to start kind of an EP with no release date. Here's a cover I whipped up:
