Israel to build fence to keep refugees out
The new 30km fence will be a continuation of a 240km barrier that already runs along the Egyptian border [Reuters]
"Israel is not indifferent to the human tragedy of Syrian and African refugees... but Israel is a small country, very small, without demographic or geographic depth. That is why we must control our borders", he said at the weekly cabinet meeting according to his office.
Netanyahu said further barrier work was being planned.
"We will as much as possible surround Israel's borders with a sophisticated security fence that will allow us to control our borders," he said.
Official figures show 45,000 refugees are in Israel, almost all from Eritrea and Sudan. Most of those not in detention live in poor areas of southern Tel Aviv, where there have been several protests against them.
Rights groups say thousands of African asylum-seekers have been coerced into "voluntary" departures.
Trump?
Considering Zionism is the cause of the destabilization of the Middle East I think Netanyahu should shut the fuck up and take in some refugees himself.
Israel should be the one taking refugees rather than European countries because they're closer to the conflict zone.
What did you guys expected? They dropped bombs on them.
He's not even pretending to be not islamaphobic anymore

He could have just left it as "we have no room" and ended it
Did anyone actually read past the title? He's stating it's unsustainable.
Did anyone actually read past the title? He's stating it's unsustainable.
So the solution is to unsustainably funnel refugees world wide to already troubled economies?

I wouldn't say that, I'd say that Wahabism was more of a cause of destabilization. Zionism was just something that didn't help to the problem.

Thank you for your input, poster with merchant avatar. I am sure this is unbiased.

Classic Israel, just dumping all their problems on everyone else.
Some day the pendulum is going to swing back and it's not going to be pretty.

I agree that we have no room would have sufficed, seeing as how Netanyahu keeps ordering settlers to kill Palestinians for their land.

Are you honestly saying that tiny little Israel should be more expected to take in refugees from an area that they are often in armed conflict with instead of the extremely wealthy and large countries of Europe? Really?

People who say that(that Israel should accept most refugees) confuses me to no end. I think most of them are saying it just because they hate Israel. Because realistically Israel won't be capable of that shit.

i mean i think maybe wahhabism and the colonial powers cutting up the middle east into borders that didn't fit with with the tribes and cultures of the middle east might have done something

Seriously though, fuck the UK and France after WWI. If they hadn't forced Germany to try to repay a ludicrous debt, and hadn't completely fucked the previous territories of the Ottoman empire, then a lot of the worlds current problems would never have happened.

No, I'm not, thanks for putting words in my mouth.
Everyone should do their fair share, is Israel really doing that at all?

I'm not sure Israel wants to let in the exact people who hate them and want to see them suffer. Besides, are you really sure you want those refugees to go to Israel? They'd likely just get shoved together with the Palestinians in West Bank.
Jews in Europe and the US have historically pushed for open-immigration in their host countries, so its grossly hypocritical for a state formed by Jewish migrants to be so staunchly against taking in refugees. Time for Jewry to practice what they've been preaching.
whats with all this refugee stuff all of the sudden
like i first heard about it 3 days ago and im just generally confused.
is it like Illegal immigrants in the US or something?

Yeah I guess you're right, Isreal can just cause issues in the area and not offer help or reduce their already bad policies against people in that region
Israel is part of the region and hasn't helped reduce tensions at all. They should offer some help, no? Should they really be able to just say "Nah" while most other countries aren't getting that same pass?
Though I do wonder why no ones pressuring Saudi Arabia or UAE or other such wealthy nations to help more.
Israel has the right to refuse refugees, being already incredibly overpopulated. Eight million people in something the size of something smaller than Lake Michigan (and most of that being unsustainable desert). Shit, a lot of lower-wealth people in Israel can't even afford to bury their dead simply due to how limited land/space is. Even things like housing have become incredibly expensive simply due to the population to land ratio. In Tel Aviv, it costs you fucking $700,000 just to buy a basic four-room apartment. But no, keep hating Israel for not being willing to destroy itself over refugees that they're incapable of supporting. Jesus Christ.

Okay so they don't need to take refugees but they should still help in the region
And I guess they should just keep taking space on the west bank without anyone saying anything either.

Lebanon has more people per square inch than Israel and they've taken in the second highest amount of Syrian refugees, Lebanon is of course a less wealthy country to boot as well.

Apartments are pretty expensive in large and wealthy cities, especially a capitol city.

Israel takes care of any wounded syrians that their soldiers find on their border, no matter their political affiliation. There was recently a problem with some Druze wanting to kill some wounded Syrian fighters in an Israeli hospital and IDF soldiers protected the fighters.

It actually costs more than that here in my city, but no, I guess you can just make dumb generalizations based off of singular points

I would rate you informative if I could
Terrorist attacks like knifing a crowd of peaceful protestors?
Oh wait that was a far right zionist ....

Excuse me? I don't think Israel has a right to refuse accepting migrants because they "can't support it" when Jordan and Lebanon just as tiny and doing the exact same thing.
It's this double-standard of behavior that's really mind-boggling, the West is expected to do all this crap but Israel can straight up sterilize people and the worst they get is a waggled finger.

How is is hypocrisy if it's not the same group of people? Are Jews in Europe and the US somehow responsible for the actions of Jews in Israel?

This is true, but nowadays Jews have a nation to take care of. That means not being rootless, bleeding heart center-lefties without any national loyalties. 'Jewry' (who says that besides anti-semites) has been through one attempted genocide already.
