Hullo. Recently, when I boot my computer, a message comes up... Trend ChipAwayVirus has detected a boot virus on yo computer! Or something like that. When I choose the option "Continue booting" my comp hangs. When I choose the option "More info" the trend tells me to restart my system. I don't really trust that...what will happen if I restart my system? halp?
Don't restart it. Wrong section, and download Antimalaware bytes and reboot in safe mode, then scan. It should get rid of it.
Oh shit man watch out I've heard that if you restart your system it will blow up and shit!
Get a good anti-virus, boot in safemode, run anti-virus.
Don't restart it. Wrong section, and download Antimalaware bytes and reboot in safe mode, then scan. It should get rid of it.
I'm sorry but I can't even go on Windows (xp) because of this message, so how could I download anything?
You're fucked man.
Oh hey, I pressed ENTER and now Windows is starting up. What the fuuuuuu...
Thats a fake virus detector most likely. Malware Bytes is good
Get a good anti-virus, boot in safemode, run anti-virus.
Alright, I already have Antivir activated so I guess I should run a complete scan then?
Yes
Oh no guys I accidentally pressed enter and my computer blew up what do I do now
who would have guessed the OP would have >50 posts and a default avatar
Thats a fake virus detector most likely. Malware Bytes is good
Trend ChipAway Virus is installed by your motherboard chipset. It's the first line of defence against ancient viruses that target your boot sector. I've never seen a post-Windows 98 computer with this function on it, so that's probably why it baffles you.
Oh ok. My bad. The name just sounded kinda fake and I've had those fake ones before. But that makes sence
who would have guessed the OP would have >50 posts and a default avatar
Yes, because an avatar defines who you really are.
