• Computer randomly reboots at random intervals

Just as the thread title states, sometimes it'll just reboot. Maybe I open a folder, bam reboot. Wanna open up Valve's Source SDK? Too bad. Reboot. It's generally annoying, it's been happening since last weekend. It wasn't doing it until about 5 hours into playing the computer. Anyone got any reason or explanation for this? Even a theory of what's going on? [editline]08:45PM[/editline] Gonna try installing new drivers right now.
Viruses, bad drivers, corupted files. Check your system for any spyware, bad files.
5 hours in? Sounds like overheating. Some computers have a threshold and shutdown to prevent overheating. go to bios and change threshold.

Alright I tried all these, still occuring. I personally think it may be a memory problem. Using an AMD Phenom II X3 720 processor, 2.80GHz, and 3.25GB of RAM. Does anyone know any program I can use to check the history of computer shutdowns, startups, reboots, and standbys? Or something similar? [editline]07:41PM[/editline] And I've also scanned for viruses but I doubt it would detect anything since I am currently using Symantec AntiVirius corporate edition.
Post your temperatures anyway, use this. http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php Also, what's your power supply?

Alright, temperature isn't the problem. What power supply do you have?
One sec, lemme check. [editline]08:04PM[/editline] Oooh uh, where do I check?
Do you know your computer model?
Do you know your computer model?
The case or the computer itself.
The computer.
Ugh, I feel pretty stupid. I don't know. Just tell me what I need to do and I'll do it.
Ok then, pop open the side of the case and look for a box either at the top or bottom of the back of the case.
Okay, the box would be near where the power cable plugs into, yes? [editline]08:16PM[/editline] Okey... Now what am I looking for? [editline]08:28PM[/editline] Okay, I have checked the little sticker and it said both 600 watt and 700 watt.
Okay up to 700, 600 stable.
I'm starting to believe it may be a graphics card or driver problem, If I check my event messages with the ATI control panel thing it says:
Faulting application hlmv.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module materialsystem.dll, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00003734. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Or,
Faulting application gtaiv.exe, version 1.0.4.0, faulting module gtaiv.exe, version 1.0.4.0, fault address 0x00898f11. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Or,
Hanging application iTunes.exe, version 8.2.1.6, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
This is really starting to piss me off, I can't make any mods or listen to any music without worrying of crashing. ANY help would be appreciated.
Please guys, this is really REALLY annoying, especially when I'm trying to help people with machinimas. ANY help would be appreciated at this point. Nothing in the thread thus far has helped.
what version ati drivers are you using
Newest.
which ones.
XP home edition, 4800 HD Radeon. [editline]11:22PM[/editline] Please take note that I'm not currently on my computer.
9.9?
I'm pretty sure, yes
This sounds like a driver issue or failing RAM. I would suggest running Memtest86+.
This sounds like a driver issue or failing RAM. I would suggest running Memtest86+.
Alright I'll try that tomorrow. However I can have nothing running besides, say, GTA:SAMP, and it just reboots. [editline]11:27PM[/editline] It's pretty much a blue screen, without the blue screen. Here's another thought. Audio drivers maybe?
Is your computer self build? If you have Vista can you complete the Vista Rating? Have you overclocked your CPU?
Is your computer self build? If you have Vista can you complete the Vista Rating? Have you overclocked your CPU?
Computer is company-built (Cyberpower PC), don't have Vista, not overclocking it.
soft crashes.. my my my. something is probably getting too hot, or something is failing. Could be your motherboard. [editline]02:36AM[/editline]
Computer is company-built (Cyberpower PC), don't have Vista, not overclocking it.
thars yer problem :frown: not really
