It appears "later" could now be "like, next week," if this notice to employees at a McDonald's location is to be believed. The August 21st launch for Samsung Pay is wrong, but it's the launch date for the devices (Note and S6 Edge+) - which seems like an honest mistake. Samsung Pay will actually launch next month. But August 26th for Android Pay is A.) awfully close, and B.) on a Wednesday. And you guys know how Google is about new/updated apps on Wednesdays, at least if you regularly visit Android Police for APK downloads.
So they're renaming Google wallet, then?
So they're renaming Google wallet, then?
From that FAQ thing later on in the article it looks like Google's going to be keeping them separate for now.
Samsung Pay? Why must Samsung copy absolutely bloody everything? Samsung phones are filled with so much bloatware that Google already does 5x better
I actually saw a Subway that had Andoid Pay advertised
oh boy yet another phone payment system that only works in the good old u.s. of a. and no where else in the world. colour me excited. seems to me that this is a thing that only places in large metropolitan areas and very big companies will ever implement in their stores. i don't get the appeal of bumbling around with my phone to pay for shit, especially when many credit cards already have tap to pay (and actually work in other places in the world) customer loyalty programs are the only thing that i could possibly see as more convenient using this system
If it comes to the UK then I will exclusively start using this, Contactless gets my giddy when I use it, I'll go nuts when I use it with my phone :v:
Too bad my Nexus 4 backplate glass shattered and the replacement doesn't have NFC. ;w;
So tired of this shit being US centric all the time. We still don't even have Google Voicemail, it's such fucking bollocks.
I feel that this is completely useless, and best explained in the form of an XKCD comic
I feel that this is completely useless, and best explained in the form of an XKCD comic
I'm pretty sure they all work on the same standard, NFC, so wherever you see a contactless payment device, you can use Android Pay/Apple/Pay/Whatever Pay At least, that's how I thought it worked. If shops needs to specifically support each standard then yeah screw this
I feel that this is completely useless, and best explained in the form of an XKCD comic
They should all be using the same protocols, it's just different names and different front ends. Apple Pay can interact with the standard NFC contactless payment terminals. This will be the exact same set of protocols and standards.
Android Pay is just and easier to use Google Wallet (source). Apple Pay/Android Pay/NFC cards all use the same NFC standard protocols so they all work together. If a retailer has a NFC point of sale reader then you can use either a card or your phone's respective app interchangeably.
I don't get this stuff. I didn't know you could pay for stuff from your phone! Does America even have contactless payment things?

Come to aus please
