Well i just bought saints row 2 and, well, it lags like hell on my nvidia 7500LE ( yes yes i know its a horrid card ) and i thought its about time to get a new one. http://www.amazon.co.uk/PNY-GeForce-PCI-E-256MB-Graphics/dp/B000SO4W9S/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1255706109&sr=8-11 this one looks relatively good, cheap and powerful, but im not really good with this kinda stuff so can you please look and see if it is worth the money. Thanks.
Nah, it'll suck to. Its got physx...but its a rather low class card. You can find a 9500 around 50$ and it'll be about 6x better.

Well its somewhat better then what you wanted. You want to look more at the second number than the first. 8800 can beat 9600's and such. But yea, it should work alot better.
awesome, thanks for your help :) Shipping to me now :D
you didn't really order that? it's probably no change from what you have now, and if there is any it'll be minor [editline]04:54PM[/editline] and amazon is fairly useless for hardware [editline]04:56PM[/editline] http://www.ebuyer.com/product/173705 would have been a much better use of your money what's your other system specs, power supply and budget?
I'm trying to avoid radeons, they seem too complicated, Nvidia are more straight forward. Also is there anything for ~20-30 ? [editline]05:04PM[/editline] Also what do you mean hardly no difference, my 7500 is apparently one of the most crappiest cards out.
I'm trying to avoid radeons, they seem too complicated, Nvidia are more straight forward.
not really X___ is the series, basically how old it is _X__ is the general area of performance, higher means more power and better suited to games/other high performance while lower means more of a budget card __X_ is a more precise area of performance so if the 48__s are the high performers of the 4000s, the 4870 is more powerful than the 4850 [editline]05:11PM[/editline]
Also what do you mean hardly no difference, my 7500 is apparently one of the most crappiest cards out.
nVidia's _400s are basically replacements for integrated, pretty terrible you won't get anything really worthwhile for a budget that low
I know but its really only what i can afford :(
save up for the 4670, it'll go so much further and again what's the rest of your specs
bro saints row 2 will run like shit on a i7 and a gtx295, its the game, But yeah you should upgrade none the less
save up for the 4670, it'll go so much further and again what's the rest of your specs
2gb ram 2.16 processor x2 windows vista 32bit
Get the Radeon 4650 or 4670. You won't regret it performance wise, it'll beat the crap out of the 9400gt. Save up for it if you can't afford it, that low budget get's you almost nowhere from your 7500 LE.
I used to have a 7500LE... it died after two years... I'd recommend a 4870 if you could, but a 4670 would be fine too.

We need to know: -Your Motherboard (what model it is) -You Power Supply Unit (PSU (what model it is exactly) Without these, we won't know for certain if what we suggest will work.
Off the website That will do me :D
I have a 3850, which has the same performance as a 4670. It can maxypad Crysis with 1024 x 768 Resolution with around 30 FPS.
-You Power Station Unit
Uh, isn't it a Power Supply Unit?
sorry to hijack this thread but I have a similar question. I'm thinking of getting a new gpu since I currently have an ATI x1300 and need an upgrade badly. I was thinking of getting either an ATI 4650 or the Nvidia 9500 gt. My specs: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13ghz 2GB DRR2 RAM (soon the be 4GB) 600 Watt PSU (overkill I know, but I got for free from a friend) and the amazing x1300 I want to get a new gpu without having to upgrade anything else. I plan on overclocking my cpu since I read that it goes to 3.05ghz on stock cooling. budget; $50~$70 USD. My monitor's max resolution is 1280x1024.
Just to point out, DarkReaper has 1.87GHz x2, not 2.1 ¬_¬ Also, explain to him, even if he had a 1GB card, the chances are, with that CPU, he would just burn it out playing on high on crysis for a while :\ If his pc specs are quite low, chances are its stock, a.k.a crappy psu, or low wattage atl east.
Also, explain to him, even if he had a 1GB card
memory has nothing to do with the general power of a card
Infact, edit...: Some people do not know how to read. Not once did I mention the power of a GPU there, so I'll rephrase. "Even if he has a high end card that is capable of running next gen material, his other specifications take part too, for example, he could easilly burn out an old CPU with not much power, putting all the stress Crysis does on high." Any better sir, or do I need to explain even simpler?
Also, explain to him, even if he had a 1GB card, the chances are, with that CPU, he would just burn it out playing on high on crysis for a while :\

SO you're saying, if I have a 1MB graphics card, I can play a top end AAA game on high. I don't think so. I didn't mention the POWER anywhere. The chances are, if its a high end card at 1GB, it's gonna be able to run medium with flying colors.
wtf? are talking about?
no, I'm saying memory has nothing to do with the general power of a card a 2GB 4870 won't be more powerful than a 1GB 4870, except the obvious having more memory AKAIK the only card where there is any difference is between a .5 and 1GB 4870 where the 1GB is slightly different and more powerful
I didn't say it is ANYWHERE IN MY POST. Why do you think that!!!! Read the edited post. Also: Makol, are you blind? I said, explain to him, a high(ish)end card doesn't mean your computer is fit to play a high end game, other specifications come into play too.
no, I'm saying memory has nothing to do with the general power of a card a 2GB 4870 won't be more powerful than a 1GB, except the obvious having more memory
so then what is the extra 1gb on the 2gb card doing if it's not much different than the 1gb card?
ARGH! Everybody just shut up arguing about specifications okay. Listen, just tell DarkReaper, just because a graphics card is good, doesn't mean a bad and old CPU will stand up to the hammering high end games will throw at it, like crysis on high (which is what he is planning on). I wasn't and still am not trying to start or continue an argument, he just won't believe me that other specs come into play when running games.
