Juno is an Academy Award winning, drama-comedy film following a young teenage girl, aptly named Juno, after becoming pregnant with her best friends child. During the course of four seasons the film addresses her emotions, the subsequent events and the pressures of bearing a child she is unprepared for while still maintaining some damn funny... or awkward dialogue throughout. To any person who hasn't seen the movie it may seem like your standard Secret Life or cliche teenage pregnancy drama, but really fuck your shit this movie is pretty damn entertaining. What sets Juno apart from your average teen prego story? The characters not being shitty is probably what made the movie, and the lack of a complete bitch in the movie surprised me a lot. Though the person who really stole the spot-line was Ellen Page. The movie's protagonist isn't the expected the cheerleader, it is a very different, much more tolerable stereotype, it's a goddamn Hipster. Who better to play the role of a teenage hipster than a perpetually youthful hipster? Of course the writers deserve loads of credit, but this was definitely her most memorable performance, fuck Inception. Also the soundtrack is pretty great too, Ellen Page actually suggested Kimya Dawson as the featured soundtrack artist. Lo-Fi Indie, perfect for the character she portrayed :buddy:
oh look, it's scott pilgrim
I was not a fan of Juno, pretentious, would be indie shite, and I actually think Michael Cera could do more if he wasn't typecast, and since when was a hammed up hipster "tolerable". I liked it

I loved this movie, maybe a little too much... also maybe Cera can redeem his awkward acting roles in Scott Pilgrim
I loved this movie, maybe a little too much... also maybe Cera can redeem his awkward acting roles in Scott Pilgrim
It does look awesome.
on a more honest note I've heard about this film for ages and never really got around to watching it. I should give it a try since you all speak so well about it. plus I'm really bored, so..
i really hated it, it was trying way too hard to seem indie and it made me throw up. indie as in the culture and not independent film. I remember hearing how good this was, smart humor and other crap like that. Was disappoint. [editline]07:28AM[/editline] P. much what Spankey said.
I liked it :frown:
Such a massively overrated film. Not to mention that Ellen Page was insanely annoying in it. Hipster garbage.
I respect your opinion regardless how much it saddens me.
I enjoyed it. Not very good to watch again. Although all this hipster shit was annoying, especially the damn soundtrack.

Would be funnier if they'd kept Roger Ebert's name under the quote. Still funny, though. On the subject of the film itself, the whole hipster vibe it seems to be forcing puts me off it massively. It seems like something that could genuinely make me angry. I'd rather not waste my time with it to be honest, none of this "teen drama" business of the past few years has appealed to me. I guess it could be that I'm not a part of that "world" - and it isn't one that I'd find interesting to look at from an outsider's perspective as I would with other films. I guess I'm judging a book by its cover, but nothing has ever grabbed me about this sort of stuff.
I thought it was good, but I dislike Michael Cera and hate Kimya Dawson.
Sadly I fapped to the birth scene. God help me.
Sadly I fapped to the birth scene. God help me.
*unamused golf clap* Didn't think the film was terrible. I didn't have a problem dealing with the whole "hipster" thing.
The girl reminds me of Zoey.
Great movie. Made me cry cause Juno looks and acts like my Girlfriend who died last year. Well, minus the pregnant part.
I loved this movie.
Ellen Page was much better in Whip It, that was a bit more fun.
Juno is hollywood indie just like that paper heart movie.
Ellen Page is hot.
My family and I watched this together (though we rented it) and we all thought it sucked.
I thought it was really good. The whole hipster aspect didn't really bother me at all. Plus Ellen Page is adorable when pregnant. Too bad she's a lesbo.

I think Michael Cera is sexy.
