• Overpopulated Cow population damages the environment?

I found this video. It basically says the Beef industry is making Global Warming worst and is putting the environment in danger. Do you agree with it? They're basically right. Cows are massive polluters, and I vote we kill them all in one go and have one last global cookout before attempting to reverse climate change :v:
The video is pretty much right in that it covers nearly all of the bad points about intensive cattle rearing, especially in the US. It skimped the deforestation a bit, in that it didn't explain how bad the rate of deforestation can be in claiming land for ranches, and how that in turn is releasing carbon that's been locked away in the forest, which in turn increases the rate of desertification, especially in fragile ecosystems such as rainforests that have been deforested. It'd be nice if people were to stop overconsuming meat as much as they do, we all eat way too much meat, sure some is nice, but we'd all live just as well if we were to eat 1/2 - 2/3rds of the amount that we currently do. The main issue is the fact that there are climate change sceptics and those with financial interests to protect (oil companies e.t.c), who spread bullshit to try to avoid having to change anything, regardless of the fact that current systems are unsustainable. We don't need to drop everything, but we do need to change habits dramatically before it is too late.
The whole meat market is fucked up, but it's all done behind closed doors so no-one will know and will mindlessly buy their nicely packet meat at the supermarket. The effects go much further then just the environment - the animals themselves are also subject to, I'd like to call it life long torture. Documentary about what goes on behind the concrete walls (kinda graphic but really, do you want to live in ignorance all your life? Enlightenment means facing reality.):
This really is not a debate. Either cow population damages the environment or it doesn't. It just depends on what scientific data can back it up or not.
